So I will be getting a nice pay in a fortnight or so, and I keep hearing great things here about the fitbit. So my question is, is it worth it? and more clearly, what will it do for me??

Thanks

Mine broke after about a month and I am still waiting 3 weeks later for a replacement.
But......before it broke, it was great! It's a good motivator. Just don't know how well they are made that's all.

ok, I seem to be a good record with keeping things in once piece and working, Im happy so long as it actually does what it says?

My work lets us use one for 2 weeks and track everything, if we like it we can purchase one for 20% off. ....so I did try it however it reminded me of a fancy pedometer. And I hate having to wear something so expensive everyday. So I think I will stick with My Fitness Pal and Map My Run apps, they are cheap and way better. I was just curious to see how fitbit tracked my sleep, but really it wasn't worth it in my opinion :ohwell:

fair enough, I am just wondering if it would make MFP more accurate as I would be linking the two, rather than using the fitbit tracker site?

I use a motoactv for this purpose.
As I do a variety of different activities, the motoactv more accurately tracks things cycling - I've got a heart rate monitor that connects to it which also helps.
Also, there's no subscription fee - once you've paid for it, it's yours. And it has an MP3 player built in, which I find useful for runs/walks/cycle rides etc.
