Hi all,
Dal is a common Indian item. Toor dal is commonly used for preparing dal. On MFP, there are so many version of dal with varying calories. It's very difficult to find out how many calories does the dal that we prepare contain.
1. The dal prepared in my house is prepared with very less oil and no coconut / peanut etc. is added in it. Will someone please guide how many calories should it contain?
2. If cooked dal is eaten without any oil / peanut / coconut and spices in it and with just some salt and red-chilli-poweder, then how many caloties will it contain?
Request members here to guide please.
Regards
Satish

Thanks Stila for quick input and it's quite useful. How much dal will contain 300 cals that you suggested? Is it one cup or is it 100 gms or some different unit?0

If you know what's going into your own version, you could try the My Recipes tool on MFP. You put in everything that you add, and tell it how many servings that is, and it will calculate all the details.0

Sorry satishpense got confuse with other lentils.
Dal (red lentils)
1/4 of lentils contain 170 calories.
Half a cup of lentils contain 340 calories (47.0 g).
just have make sure to leave some dal, and you will not go over 300 calories.
Hope this helps!0 -
Thanks Melanicheeks and Stila. You both provided quite a vital info.0
