Calories burned calculations

Wondering how everyone calculates calories burned when exercising? I have found some good tools online where you put in your weight/activity/ intensity/time and it calculates calories burned. I have compared a few and they give pretty similiar calculations. However, I get feedback (not on MFP) from people saying those calculations seem really high. I know that you burn more the more you weigh, but just want to make sure I am being realistic. Any insight?

if you have doubts about it I say put in half of the number they say, I'm guessing you are worried because you eat back your exercise calories. Invest on a heart rate monitor they give you a better idea then the online numbers.0
