Just wondered if anyone knows what a healthy daily sodium intake should be?

MFP sets it at 2500 per day. As long as you don't have high blood pressure or any other health issues this should be a healthy daily intake.

    1500 for women over 50.

just asked our dietician last night. She said normal was 3000 to 4000. Getting down to 2000 would be a moderate restriction. MFP set mine to 2500 also.
  • Thanks for the information, it is helpful to compare how I am doing.
  • My physician wants me to stay at less than 2000 mg of sodium. I think that provides me a little cushion if I go over but will stay within USDA recommendations. It's amazing how many food products contain sodium - raw meat and poultry, most processed foods, even raw vegetables. I track sodium with my other items.
