Why did you take the fist step?
When was it that you decided you needed to do something about your weight? What was the final push that made you realise that you have to make a change?
For me I just suddenly realised how unhappy I was and I hadnt even noticed. I had stopped going out and rationalising it with excuses that I didnt have enough money to socialise even though the real reason was I didnt want people to see how large I had gotten. I was just sitting at home watching TV and ordering takeaway. Life had just stopped pretty much and I needed to get it back.
So what was it that made you say No. There must be a change?

I took the first step about 3 years ago. I hit the heaviest I had ever been and I was just feeling down about my health, my physical appearance and just emotionally drained. I decided that I had enough and that something needed to change. I finally had people who really supported me and helped me through the tougher times and 3 years later, I am 70 pounds down and happier than ever.0

I first realized it when I couldn't sit comfortably in a movie theater seat when they had previously been roomy enough. Finding MFP is the reason I first decided to do something. I wasn't really paying any attention to my weight or my food intake. I signed up for MFP in July, the day after Independence Day, more out of curiosity than anything. So I started logging my food and learning about calories and TDEE and BMR and and had to re-learn a lot of things about nutrition since I believed the myths that carbs make you fat, etc.
I haven't looked back, and I'm not done until I hit my goal!
ETA: Also, playing a game of volleyball for the first time in years at a friends house. My mind knew what to do, but I couldn't make my body move the way it needed to in order to play successfully. I was very frustrated with myself.0 -
I had been sick for a while, and spent the majority of my time in my bed, as I was put on bed-rest. Then, when my condition worsened and I was put in hospital, they had to weigh me - now, I hadn't weighed myself in over 6 months, and although I noticed that I had gained weight because of the medicine and bed-rest, the number on the scale left me shell-shocked. I had gained more than a 100 lbs.
Once I was off bed-rest and started cutting down on the meds that caused this weight-gain in the first place, the shock of seeing my weight was the main factor that I got my butt in gear and started doing something about this.0 -
I lost about 3 stone and hit a weight I was happy with. My mistake was that I thought since I hit my weight I didnt have to be as active any more. I guess the way I am built I have to stay active and keep the lifestyle. So this time around thats my goal. Create a habit.
Oh and yeah the way I looked in photos was something I hated and right now after putting weight back on something I hate again.0 -
The new jeans I had bought without trying on were actually 2 sizes bigger than I thought they were and they fit me :sad:0
