I found my baseball!

And by baseball I mean Mojo.
I went back to the gym last night like I promised myself I would. It felt like going to church like I did in another lifetime and walking into the confessional. But, it went something like this instead, "Forgive me Trainer, for I have sinned...It has been 5 months since my last workout".
On Tuesday night there is a Strength & Conditioning class. I had no idea what it was but I was determined to do it. I'd taken cardio kickboxing with the instructor before so I knew that she was a hardcore, energetic, motivating maniac! Just what I need!
I walk into the room and see women and a few men setting up for the class. They've obviously all done this numerous times. They each set up their own little areas with a Step and anywhere from 2 to 8 lifts for the Step, a yoga mat, 3 sets of hand weights and a weighted bar. What have I gotten myself into? I do the same.
Knowing my limitations, I grab 4 lifts and only 2 sets of weights, 5 and 7lbs (HEY, it's a start!), a bar and a mat. She comes in bouncing and yelling in that energetic maniacal drill sergeant tone of hers and the fast paced music begins.
We started out just doing basic aerobics with the step to get our heart rates up then come the weights and the bar, lifting, rowing, 50 reps for everything, lifts with the bar on the mats, sitting on the Step and 50 reps with weights in about 10 different styles shoulder height or higher...Yes, it hurts to even type today.
I'm not going to say that I did it all with stopping. I stopped a few times, caught my breath and continued on, every time I picked my head up and joined the rest I found her looking at me with a smile of approval. She was giving me strength through that smile. I kept telling myself "You can do it, finish it, don't give up".
I WILL go back every Tuesday night. I WILL get better. I WILL be able to use the heavier weights (maybe even the 15 lb ones she was using) and I will NOT give up again.
I can tell you everything ached and the burn was horrible and glorious at the same time. I’ve never sweat so much in my life. 60 minutes a week. It’s a start. Maybe someday I’ll even wander over to the free weights section and not give a crap if anyone looks at me and says with their eyes “what’s she think she’s doing over here?” I’ll be stronger, I’ll be happier and it will be awesome…
…I will be awesome!

So pleased to hear that she was encouraging. Last thing you need or want is to try to get back into the swing of things and feeling as though 'you've bitten off more than you can chew'.
Good for you for making that initial step of going back. It'll just get easier from here on in. Good work (I sound like a school teacher - sorry )0 -

It must have been the night for restarts! I went to a Zumba class last night. It was the first time exercising in over a year and a half. Thanks to my motivating friend Annie, she got me moving again! My knees held up and not too sore today, but probably won't be saying that tomorrow.
Great job! Keep it going!0 -
Thanks all! Like I keep telling myself: There's no crying in baseball!0
