What do you listen to when you workout?

Options
Looking for some ideas for some songs to load up on my iPod that I can listen to to keep me motivated since I am getting tired of the songs I currently have on it. Need some song thats are uptempo or just have a good message in them to keep me motivated. Here are a couple of songs I have on my iPod now and reasons why I like them.

"Never Say Never" by Justin Beiber - First heard this in the Karate Kid remake and like it because the tempo keeps me moving and also the message is also appropriate for what I am trying to accomplish - "There's just no turning back, when you hearts under attack, gonna give everything have, it's my destiny.

"Hearts on Fire" by John Cafferty - Love this song from Rocky IV, its a fast paced song and though I don't really know the lyrics and haven't really thought about them to be honest, I picture the training montage from the film.

I REALLY like the lyrics to Sick Puppies "You're Going Down" it's by-far my FAVORITE song to workout to. :0)

    Lyrics:

    Define your meaning of war
To me it's what we do when we're bored
I feel the heat coming off of the blacktop
And it makes me want it more
Because I'm hyped up, outta control
If it's a fight I'm ready to go
I wouldn't put my money on the other guy
If you know what I know that I know

It's been a long time coming
    And the tables' turned around
Cause one of us is goin'
One of us is goin' down
I'm not running, it's a little different now
Cause one of us is goin'

One of us is goin' down

    Define your meaning of fun
To me it's when we're getting done
I feel the heat coming off of the blacktop
So get ready for another one
Let's take a trip down memory lane
The words circulate in my brain
You can treat this like another all the same
But don't cry like a ***** when you feel the pain

It's been a long time coming
    And the tables' turned around
Cause one of us is goin'
One of us is goin' down
I'm not running, it's a little different now
Cause one of us is going

One of us is goin' down

This is hardly worth fighting for
But it's the little petty **** that I can't ignore
With my fist in your face and your face on the floor
It'll be a long time coming
But you got the message now
    Cause I was never going
Yeah, you're the one that's going down

One of us is goin' down
    I'm not running,
    it's a little different now
Cause one of us is goin'

One of us is goin' down
One of us is goin' down

Depends on the workout. For lifting weights at home, nothing beats a movie with JCVD or Stallone: you'll feel like you're in your own montage.

But seriously, for jogging here are some songs in my playlist:

    Feel Good, Inc - Gorrilaz
    Little Less Conversation - Elvis
Here [In Your Arms] - Hellogoodbye
PJ & Rooster - OutKast (from Idlewild)
Hey Man (Now You're Really Living) - the eels
    Going On - Gnarls Barkley
Me & Julie Down by the Schoolyard - Paul Simon

I'm also a bit of a theatre geek, so I have lots of showtunes in there. If you're into that sort of thing:

    all from HairSpray:
    Ladies' Choice
    Run and Tell That
    You Can't Stop the Beat

All fun and upbeat and keep me going. When I was jogging on a treadmill and doing the same program every time, I would time out the levels and make a playlist to keep pace with whatever level I would be at. That took some planning, though.

Oooh, good one. Based on your songs listed, though, I didn't do anything heavier like Sick Puppies. Love that album, though.

I find dubstep really great for a more scientific reason - you tend to settle into moving at the rhythm of what you are listening to (which can be annoying when you have good music, but at a tempo that throws you off your pace). The great thing about dubstep is that the beats are all over the place, so you can exercise to it at any speed :)

My personal contribution would be anything by The Prodigy. Especially:

    - You'll Be Under My Wheels (seriously, best workout song EVER. Makes you feel like an exercising machine.. also the most accessible one if you're not a Prodigy fan :) )
    - Omen
    - Invaders Must Die
    - Medusa's Path
    - Spitfire
    - Almost anything from Fat of the Land
    - Anything from Music for the Jilted Generation

I'm probably the only person that listens to Classical while working out..

Aside from that, I have alot of Drake, Meek Mill, Kanye, Michael Buble (random,I know), Kid Cudi, Frank Ocean, Big Sean, Lil Wayne, Maroon 5, John Mayer, etc. Gospel also keeps me uplifted, especially when I'm ready to give up. Just some ideas for you

it's hard to ask someone for music lists, what if they like a different type of music. I like classic 70's rock and country. No one lists that kind of music!

    http://www.self.com/playlists

they have some great lists here

Try using jog.fm, I use it to find songs for running. I've discovered that I like to run at songs whose tempos are around 156 beats per minute, you can sort by BPM, and sample songs quickly. I think it's great!

I actually can't listen to music while working out (or working, for that matter) for 2 big reasons. First, I will pay more attention to the music than to what I'm doing. Second, I *will* start singing. Trust me, nobody wants to hear that. ;)

I damned dear killed myself trying to keep up with Brian Setzer Orchestra's version of Sabre Dance on an elliptical once...
