NSV going the distance from MIWI to NOLA

I started my life changing journey in April; inspired by my wife who had quit smoking several months earlier. I set a date to quit smoking after doing it for 25 years, dreading the prospect of gaining weight as a result and possibly ending up at 300 lbs as I was already close to 270.
So, two weeks before I quit smoking I started eating better and exercising. A little walking at first, then a lot of walking, then stairs, threw in some jogging until I injured myself and had to revert to biking for two months, found after two months of biking that I could run 5 miles non-stop at12 min/mile, improved that time to 8.5 min/mile, took some swimming lessons, signed up for a half marathon, and have set my sights on a triathlon next summer.
On July 16th when I discovered that I could run I started to keep a log of miles run and biked. On Sep. 5th I started swim training with a 200 yard swim and found I sucked at swimming so I took some lessons and I'm getting better. Today I was looking at my log and added up all of my miles: running - 353, biking 712, swimming 8.3 or just over 1000 miles which is roughly the distance from Milwaukee, WI where I live to New Orleans, LA.
I am extremely proud of what I have accomplished so far and am very greatful to the many people who have inspired me. Espcially my wife who not only inspired me but who supports me working out so many hours to get fit. I am a lucky man indeed. If I could give someone standing in my shoes last April just one piece of advice it would be to set goals and make a plan to reach them. It has gotten me this far and I am hoping it will get me to my goal of going 148.6 miles in one day before I reach my 45th birthday.
