Shin Splints

Options
I've recently developed shin splints as I've not long started running. The cause was due to running on the treadmill with the old unsuitable trainers before I got my new running shoes.

I can't stop exercising as I am taking part in a 6 week personal training plan (currently week 2). I've stopped running for the time being & have been doing a mix of core, body combat, leg strengthening & x trainer exercising.

I'm aware of the pain in my shin but it's not agony, more of a dull pain. Any tips on how to either reduce or get rid of the pain? I would really like to start running again, sooner rather than later.

I get shin splints every so often. What works for me is stretching them after every half mile to mile I run. Also icing them after a run if they are really bad. Good luck!

You could also try compression sleeves for during or after your workout. They tend to help blood flow/circulation to the area which helps. I second icing the area as well.
