How do you change the amounts of food & drinks you consume? I only had a tsp of something and it only had a 1/2 cup. Help I am new to this site. Started this morning

sometimes I go look for the same food and sometimes they have 1 tbs listed.
otherwise, like If i have 1/2 bagel and it is listed as 1 bagel, on the left side change it to .50 (for 1/2 of the bagel).

    hope that helps!

*i'm not sure if its the same if you are doing it on your phone, but, this is how you do it using the computer*

Ooh, yeah, that's frustrating. It generally helps if you look for the entries that aren't user generated. For example, if you did a search for "raw onions," you'll get the generic onion entry that has all sorts of measurements (whole, sliced, chopped, different measurement sizes, etc.).

It helps to know all the conversions. 3 tsp = 1 Tbsp, 8 Tbsp=1/2 cup. So you'd be looking at 1/24= 0.0417 of a 1/2 cup serving. I suspect they don't let you use that many decimal places, though! Try 0.04, and if it doesn't let you do that you could just leave it at 0.1.
Or re-enter the food with smaller portion sizes, because odds are someone else is having the same problem!

One thing that might help you a lot is to have a handy conversion table around or bookmark a page on your smartphone if you are using the app. When I started writing all my food down I used a food scale and some measuring cup to get a feel to all the main foods I eat and use. Such as 4 oz of meat or chicken, a Cup of liquid vs a cup of food and such things.

    a cup has 48 teaspoons
    a Tablespoon has 3 teaspoons

so if you had a teaspoon it's about 0.02 of a cup, or 0.04 of half a cup.

Oftentimes, if you pull down the measurement line they have different units also. Also you might look thru the list to find an entry that is closer to what you had. I love using my Android phone for anything packaged as it lets me use a bar code scanner and generally defaults the individual serving size in.

I often have that problem when something is in there for the weight instead of the size.
I generally just google the conversions, and keep it specific to the type of thing.
Like if it's water or salt or something like that, they're going to be different.

You will get better at it for sure! XD

If it gives me the option of 1g then I'll go for that and then change the number of servings or as stated above give as a portion of the serving size.

If in doubt I just err on the high side.
