Alright, somebody had to ask the gross questions...

So, I've been eating super well lately. And I've lost weight and all that jazz, but has anyone else experience "detox" effects from eating so much healthy stuff? What do you do to stop it?

At least my skin is getting nicer...

Yes, I do. I suffer every time I eat something outside of my normally planned diet, and sometimes with the diet too. So far I've just been suffering... trying to increase water intake.

I am guessing your body is exposed to new food highly rich in fiber, as contained in a fruit, legumes and vegetables.
It is a good think, don't worry!
Your system starts to work, your metabolism increases and this is a good thing.

    Your body will adapt.

It's funny you posted this - I started eating really "clean" the past 5 or 6 days and was wondering the same. What are your side effects?

I have.... I have no problem admitting it. Every since I went on the healthy diet. I had to go to the bathroom like 10 times a day. Luckily there are two public bathrooms stops on my walking/running path. Just got to time them right LOL

I think I am just preparing for those grandpa days!
  • I have been eating heathly, fresh, homemade food, low fat, all natural, no soda, etc for over a month. I went to McDonalds a few days ago and had a 6 piece kids meal, guess who spent the night in the bathroom
    >this gal right here. So I guess since I haven't had greasy food in awhile, and I ate a meal that was covered in it, let's just say things got moving in my intestines.

I've been peeing SO much because of the water, and then of course the fibre thing as well haha. God I am so not a girly-girl. :P Anyway, glad to know it's not just me and that it'll boost my metabolism! :D I'm just thinking of taking some pepto everywhere I go! lol

You don't loose weight by burning it off, you loose it by losing a few organs along the way

I noticed changes for sure, but what really surprised me (maybe not) was after months of eating well, I ate at Mcdonald's and had the worst (way worse than the slight changes with healthy eating) stomach issues ever... pretty much made me realize I just didnt want to put that into my body.

I've had it! In fact, I have to go pee so many times, that its affecting my sleep :/ I have been trying to balance things out. I don't want to have bad dreams everynight just because I drank so much water during the day... Around 2 or 3 hours before bedtime, I stop drinking water to try and reduce my chances of nightly visits to the bathroom.

I know its awful but its completely normal... and good for you too. Keep up the water and even the peeing will get easier.. its your body cleaning itself out and adjusting... :) Its a good sign for sure!! and it will get better!

I've spent my whole life being super regular .. right on time every morning .. without fail.

But the water drinking has made me feel like I'm 9.5 months pregnant again .. I swear I'm peeing every 3-5 minutes.. I hope that changes up soon.. I can't handle going pee so much LOL .. Most of the time - I've barely made it out of the bathroom only to turn around and think .. damn - gotta pee again!

Detox is good so allow your body to do it's job to make you healthy (NO PEPTO):noway: Perhaps walk with a change of clothing just in case :blushing:

Your body definately gets used to drinking more water. I've been drinking 3 liters a day for almost a year now and I feel like I pee just as much as a normal person now. Maybe more if I have a few teas. I'm not a doctor, but it feels like my body has finally figured out how to use all the extra water.

For me, the detoxing stuff was pretty brief. My skin broke out like mad, but it only lasted a week or so and since then it has been FABULOUS! The numerous trips to the bathroom will probably level out also. It has been well worth enduring for me!
  • If you're urinating a lot (go, then have to go again in 5 minutes), that might not be water intake...it may be a bladder issue/incontinence. A common problem that makes you have to go again real soon is if your bladder isn't completely emptying. This can lead to other problems. It can't hurt to check with your Dr if it's a new 'symptom'. Another sign w/ respect to whether or not your bladder is emptying is how much are you going? If you just went and then really have to go again, but very little urine comes out, then that is another symptom of your bladder not emptying completely.
