Hello everyone,

So I have a habit of not eating until I get home from college for dinner. I'm just not hungry before then.

MFP recommends I eat 1200 calories a day, but here it's 7:30pm and I've only had 490 calories. I'm not really hungry. Here's what I ate, which is a pretty typical meal for me-

3 eggs 210
Mushrooms in olive oil 35
Banana 90
Raspberries 6
Bread 45
Peanut butter 95
Sriracha 5
---
490 calories.

I also have coffee in the morning, and tea throughout the day. I use stevia but no cream/milk.

Should I eat the 700+ calories or allow for that much of a deficit? If I should eat something, what should I eat?

Oh, and I'm 19, 5'5, and 114.4lbs this morning.

Thank you :)

    You're 5'5" and 114? What's your goal weight?

I'm not one to criticize b/c many think I'm fine and don't need to lose weight and it's really a personal choice but I would say...but for your height 117 is considered low so you're already underweight. If you're unhappy with your body maybe you should concentrate on toning and shaping....losing would really be unhealthy for you.

You need to eat more. 700 in one meal isn't that hard (I ate 800 for lunch b/c I had to order out). I have a feeling you'er not hungry all day b/c you've been eating too little for too long and you're hormones that tell you when you're full and when you're hungry are out of whack.

I'm recovering from an ED, not trying to lose weight. I was just looking for some guidance and normalcy as far as when and what to eat. My BMI is just barely within the healthy range now.

Okay. In that case good for you.

It really doesn't matter when you eat, especially if you're just trying to maintain. Go ahead and eat a full meal to get to 1200 or whatever your goal is. I know it's hard when recovering to eat just anything and it's good to eat healthy. start with some brown rice or Quinoa, some lean protein and a veggie with 700 calories you can add some yummie calorie dense foods like avocados and add some cheese if you want. Still healthy but all yummie and it gets you to a full calorie count for the day. =)

Also try packing smoe snacks in your bag and eat something during the day so you don't feel like you have so much ground ot make up at night...even if it's a PB and J and an apple. Eat it when you have a break the more you feed your body during the day the more normal eating will start to feel good for you.

Good for you for posting here and asking for advice..def a step in the right direction. I'm sure you feel its a difficult task to fit in another 700 calories when you don't feel hungry. Since you are recovering you prob aren't looking to eat big meals just yet and that one meal is prob all u feel u can eat right now. You won't feel hungry per say for a bit until your body gets used to you putting the calories in your body and thats ok..it all takes time. But if you sit and think about it 600-700 calories isn't that hard to fit in your day somewhere...even if u break it up throughout the day as snacks. Have a glass of milk and a granola bar( or some other thinsation type snack you like) for about 200 calories, have a banana or some other fruit you like for another 100 calories, have a bowl or cereal or a slice of toast in the evening with a glass of juice or milk or tea whatever u like...little options like this thrown in throughout the day will all add up....Good luck with it all..all will be good soon enough!!
