...Or are people really b*tchy, whiny, cranky, grumpy and mean lately?

Are those resolutions wearing off already? WHERE IS THE LOVE?!?!?!?!

I swear I've seen more petty bickering on MFP in the past week than I have in the entire rest of the time I've been here. It's kinda weird, reminds me of being at home. :p

I agree. It seems it doesn't matter what a person posts, they're getting flamed to heck.

I was just thinking about that the other day. I only look at what my friends post now because I was a little turned off by some things that were said. I am not here to judge people, I assumed the same of others so I felt safe posting how I felt before. Now I try to mostly just read and keep it to myself unless I "know" the person or have at least seen them post a few times before.

 Dumb people want to be skinny also! (In regard to the post I am talking about, lol)

    :flowerforyou: Good post!

I agree. I have actually thougt about posting something and did not do it because I was afraid of what the critics would say! Thanks for being positive.

I blame the time of year. New Years Resolutions are starting to wear off and people are getting frustrated...

I joined around this time last year and have been on and off throughout that time (more off lately than on) - I think a lot of times what happens on websites like this is that many new people join in January and February because they've made their New Years resolutions. People who have been around for awhile answer all the "newbie" questions... over and over and over again and at some point - they snap. I don't know what thread specifically you're talking about... so obviously, I can't comment on it particularly. But the other thing that tends to be frustrating is when someone joins a website like this... and then every post that they write is negative. We all hit our plateaus and our rough spots - but you can't come on here constantly wanting a boost - sometimes you have to be the booster! LOL

Things will calm down as soon as the weather breaks.

Maybe i don't read enough posts, but i've never seen anyone be mean here. Other than towards the girl this morning who didn't think older women should be wearing bikinis.

I think the majority of people are on here for the right reasons and are careful about not offending anyone. There are those that might be a bit more honest and end up being thought of in a negative way as a result. I try to keep in mind that SOME things can be taken out of context on a message board like this. Unfortunately, we can't hear a tone of voice or know exactly how someone meant something.

That being said, there are some topics that are better left off a website that is supposed to be about living a healthy lifestyle. This section..the chit chat, fun and games is one thing..but some people do post things on some of the other sections that aren't necessary.

    YES!!!
and most people don't seem to understand what the forum headings are for!! (these people also happen to be the cranky ones I've noticed)
  • YES.

That's why I find the proper people to hang with on here.

I can be b!tchy with them and they just make me laugh. *shrug*

    rainbows are edible? lol

yeah I dont know, I think I've been more sensative lately to peoples comments. taking offense to them I mean.

I find nothing on this thread to be offended about though :):)

oh! I have a positve for all happy people:
did you know that one peep has only 32 calories? that means for my 100 calorie afternoon snack i can eat THREE of them!!!! also, did you know that chocolate covered peeps now exist??? and that its only 110 calories for one?????? I tried the milk chocolate and wasnt too impressed so now I'm on the hunt for the dark chocolate one. I'm sure it will be a peeps nervana in my mouth :)

and now I will leave you the ultimate blessing of happyness: peeps Jesus http://www.galorebot.com/art/jesusofpeeps/jesus_of_peeps.htm

Lol. I wanted to be soooooo careful to put this in the correct forum. But then, I run a discussion board so I know how important it is to put the right stuff in the right places.

    ;)

No one thread in particular set me off (I'm alluding to about five or six different ones actually, lol). Actually... I haven't been 'set off'. Not posting to complain or poke or prod... just saying.

I'm still feelin' goooooood. Though, a little lacking in motivation the past couple weeks. Gotta work on that, lol!

It's a general observation that more of the threads that I've read lately have involved cranky/defensive/irritable people than usual. Of course, the vast MAJORITY of things posted are still awesome. There's just been an increase compared to, oh, back in November/December when I first joined. Which wasn't long ago. Soooooo I thought, hey let's put some focus on the good/happy stuff!

Like, how 'bout how AWESOME it is that it's not dark when I get home from work anymore. Or that it's actually SUNNY today.

Or that my pants are loose!

Nope, ain't nobody gonna pee on my rainbow.
  • I've noticed the same thing. I don't even bother to read the recent post page any more. I just stalk my friends, lol:laugh:

    Ooooh...Rainbows!!!

I haven't been able to decide if there's more crankiness and TONE OF VOICE in the threads or if I'm just more sensitive to it because of some stressors I've got in my life right now. I know that I haven't been as patient as I should be lately. Part of it is just general crankiness and stress. I know I'm more sensitive to people advocating very large deficits and not eating exercise cals lately--I used to be able to post in those threads without getting snippy, angry or frustrated, now I have to stay out of the threads...I just find it too irritating, almost to the point of taking it personally. WTH?

I understand we get a crop of newbies every couple months, and most of them don't read the stickies and have to be pointed there...that doesn't really bug me. I feel like I got really good advice when I first started here, and I think when I look at some of the stuff being posted now, I feel annoyed that people just coming on board now are getting hit with counterproductive info, and the good stuff's being buried...I promise, I will behave myself from now on, and not bite people's heads off. :blushing:

Also...There are chocolate covered Peeps now? :drinker:

I know!!!! totally made my day when my friend told me about them. I tried really hard to NOT look for them, and then caved and then found out they're only 110 calories so they're doable... I do need to find the dark chocolate ones though, I bet those would be way better :)

I seriously held a package of regular Peeps in my hand for about 3 minutes in the grocery store today, trying to decide whether or not to buy them. If they'd been chocolate covered, I would be eating them right now, but I resisted the temptation. Now I just have to resist looking for the chocolate ones!!

didnt you see my first post? you can have THREE for under 100 calories!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean granted its ALL sugar so there are a ton of better things you can eat for 100 calories... but I challenge you to find anything for 100 calories that will put a smile on your face quicker than 3 peep chickies! I  them! I mean seriously a couple weeks ago I had been in a 3-4 day long fight with my husband, got yelled at by my boss, had to tell a really sweet old couple that I couldnt do a home loan for them and they'd be better off selling their house (I do mortgages) and I went into World Market and they were just finishing putting up their Easter stock and there was this HUGE display of all different colored peeps... really it just instantly made everything ok
