Heart rate after excersise..

So I did Zumba today. When I put my HRm on before excersise I'm normally in the 70-75 range. So I did Zumba today and then check out HRM. Burned 707 calories, max HR 189 which is 103%, avg HR is 160. Here's my question. 4 hours after the workout my heart rate was only down to 115-125. Now I sit here 8-9 hours later and my heart rate is 88-95. I've never really paid attention to my heart rate after a workout, but was using monitor as a watch today so it's been on all day.

Is this something I need to be. Concerned with?? Should I call a doc tomarrow? Am I overdoing it while working out???

How long have you been working out for? As you get in better shape, your heart rate will drop quicker after exercise. For example, when I started working out, I would hang around 100-110 after exercise for some time. Now I drop from 170 to 120 in about 10 seconds when I stop moving.

If you've been exercising for quite some time, then I would definitely check with a doctor. It can be a symptom of more problems. But staying in the 100s four hours after exercise does seem like a long time. If it was me, I'd check with my doctor. But I tend to worry about stuff like that.

I worked out today and I'm not fit by any stretch...put the monitor on and I'm usually that same as you...around 70. It goes up as I exercise however, it soon goes down below 100 even if I'm doing abs for a minute. It stays raised for a little while after but it's been about an hour since and I'm back down to below 70.
I would pop to see your doc, even if it is for reassurance. It's probably nothing to worry about but, get checked out anyway.

I would continue to monitor it over the next few days. a "normal" hr is between 60-100. staying in the 115 range 4 hours after exercise may be a little concerning however it may just mean your heart needs some conditioning (more exercise) Do you drink caffeine? That can also raise your heart rate. Make sure you are not dehydrated that too can cause a higher than normal heart rate. I would suggest increasing your fluids and monitoring it, make sure you check it after sitting down and not moving for at least 5 minutes.

Could your HRM be messed up? Ignoring the resting rate, that still seems like mega calories for Zumba and a really high HR for Zumba
