anyone out there maintaining?

I need some friends to maintain with...I have recently reached my goal weight and now need to maintaine...however I seem to struggle to snap out of restricted food and exercise regime...final straw was today at work when i realised that i never seem to let myself eat what i really want due to restricting foods (i.e sometimes i would like a sandwich and a bag of crisps but eat homemade low cal low fat veggie soups) and i usually average at 1300 a day or less when MFP advises me to be around 1800.so i think having friends who maintaine and can give me advise would help.

Please feel free to post advice and/or add me x

    Hi I consider myself in maintenance. I am about 10 pounds more than the lowest weight I got to...but somehow the same size. So I am just maintaining it.
    I can totally understand how you feel. I try to find the balance...usually I pack my lunch and eat salads. I find myself eating pretty healthy over the week, though then the weekend I will splurge and eat out lunch with my mom and have ice cream or whatever I am craving.

    I am also trying to maintain right now. I still restrict myself most of the time out of habit but on Saturday I usually go out to eat for one meal and enjoy myself. I'm a major Cracker Barrel fan so it's hard to even think about eating right on that night.
  • I have been maintaining for a year now. It does take a while to get used to the increase of calories but it does get easier. Add me if you want! Congrats on reaching your goal and good luck.

    Calories depend on exercise routine and I notice that if I don't eat too late I can eat more without any scale effect. My biggest problem in the winter is my desire to eat stays at summer exercise levels while my bike time is usually reduced a little so I have to consciously remember that (and try to remember to eat earlier in the evenings as well).

    I have been successfully maintaining for over a year now. I lost 60 lbs at age 50 and I'm almost 52 now. I love MFP for maintenance and my diary is open for anyone to look at. I don't really plan much, I just eat what I feel like mostly healthy, mostly balanced, within the calorie budget that seems to be working for me. I don't restrict myself from the foods I enjoy. I keep it simple. Eat what you like, mostly healthy, and include your treats in your calorie budget.

    me too, just trying to figure all this out, how to maintain. Just starting the maintaining part of this journey, I've lost 78 pounds, down to healthy BMI, within normal body fat range.. feel free to add me :0)
  • Hi I'm trying to maintain too. I've been adjusting my calories and seeing what works for me. I'm also trying to exercise more and starting to see the results.

    Hi fellow maintainers...first, congrats to us all! :drinker:

    I have been maintaining a 30 pound loss since February of this year. My goal weight was 145 lbs. and I pretty reliably stay in the neighborhood of 144-146. I have become very comfortable with maintenance and no longer log on weekends (though I still make good decisions and don't go overboard!).

    I was all excited for this thread but then I realized I don't really fit your criteria.

    I'm maintaining. Just not on purpose. :{
