Hi all..
My name is Victoria and I am 19 years old,5'5'',and today im at 139lbs. Two days ago I was 137.6 and three days ago I was 145lbs. Do I need better scales or am I just a freak? This has been going on for about two weeks now and I am at my breaking point. I am currently in training for a modeling convention and every .2 of a lb is cause for a possible freak out. I dont want to be one of those over obsessed girls but I am honestly working my booty off. I've been at this for 50 days now and only lost a total of about 2 inches over all and I fluctuate between 145 and 137 CONSTANTLY! I cant lose any more! Growing up I was always....always over weight. This is my time now to change the rest of my life. Although I am the smallest I have ever been I al still very discouraged. I walk between 3-8 miles every day and do Zumba® three times a week. I am actually going to be certified as a Zumba® instructor tomorrow. I feel exhausted allllllll the time. I work 40 hrs a week on top of everything. I'm just frustrated with working so hard and not seeing any results. Help?

You've lost 2 inches already, so congrats and you aren't that big, so the weight isn't going to come off quickly, just learn to deal with that fact. Look long term, not short term. You body doesn't lose weight in a linear fashion, so learn to deal with that fact. This isn't a short term diet, it is a lifestyle, so learn to deal with that fact. Keep working hard and eating right and you will end up being just fine.0 -
I think weight fluctuates daily, and it can be by a lot. Everything I've read (sorry I don't have sources right now) states that when you maintain, a DAILY difference of plus or minus five pounds is normal. I don't see why it should be different when you're not maintaining. Don't sweat it.0

@ubermensch13 I have embraced the fact that it is not just a diet but a change in my life from now on. I guess I just need to do as you said and come to terms with the fact I wont be losing as much as I had expected. I honestly thought "as long as I look toned and my clothes fit better I wont care what those numbers on the scale tell me" but boy was I wrong. I guess as a woman I just have "fat days" lol
Thank you all for the support and advise.0 -
the only reason you won't be losing much initially is because muscle weighs more than fat. as you build muscle and lose fat, you get leaner, but your weight stays the same or fluctuates, seemingly at random. DON'T FREAK OUT!
after a while, and it's different for everyone, you will see the numbers on the scale move. but this is the most important thing you can learn about health/fitness/weightloss: forget the scale. throw it away. if you work towards FEELING good, the weight loss will come. Who gives a crap about a number?0
