Weighing Meat

So we all know about portion control. We know that a serving of meat is about 4-5 oz.
Question: When are you supposed to weigh the meat? When it's frozen, when it's thawed but raw, or after it's cooked?

I always weigh it after I cook it, right before I eat it. I don't know if that's right or not, but that's what I've always done.0

Generally 4 ounces of raw meat will lose about 25% of it's weight while cooking and become 3 ounces afterward. You should be able to find both in the database depending on when you weighed it - I prefer to use the cooked weight, because a lot of times (particularly with something like ground beef) the cooked weight's nutrition is much more pleasant to look at because the fat has been cooked out and is less!0

Culinarily and nutritionally, it's 3oz cooked.0 -
