Help I Have Never Measured Before & I Need Some Advice !

Options
Hello.
I want to keep this very brief but I have never once measured myself up when on a diet, or at all really and I feel like if I stand any chance of getting the body and healthy life I want I have to tackle both at once, not just focusing on weight and then focusing on my figure, like I have been trying to do when I have attempted diets before.
I am well aware of how and when to weigh yourself and have been doing that for many weeks but like I said before I have never done any measurements of any sort and I have no idea where to start, how to measure myself up correctly, what to put as number on here e.g. cm or inches blah blah blah.
So if anyone fancies helping me out I would be incredibly grateful :)

a lot of people say to measure your dominate side. so i always measure my Right side (its bigger then the left)
i do my bust (boobs) around right over the nipple
    my calf
    my thigh
    upper arm
my waist right below my boobs
and my hips which is the largest part around your butt.

whenever you measure you want to try to measure in the same spot
and dont make the measuring tape tight.

    as for numbers...
i use inches lol but if my hips are 46 inches and a 1/2 i just type in 46.5

    hope this helps

I'm not sure what you mean by dominant. I get it's the largest side but does that mean you only measure one side e.g. if you're doing your chest you only do one boob ?

I have a pic that I use, sorry the writing not very clear but you can see by the diagram where you should measure.

    Thank youu,
this is very useful :) I think I'm just stuck on actually using a cloth measure now, I know that sounds silly but I've never paid much attention to measurements before now .

What people choose to measure as their waist varies, but the medical risk factor for heart disease is >= 35 inches for women and this measurement should be taken approx. 2 in above your hip bone, which will usually be just above the navel. It's often not the smallest spot on your midsection.
