Size of a mountain

My name is Dwane and I started using the information on this site in July. I have been fighting obesity for over 20 years. Back in July I went and saw a weight loss specialist through my insurance. After the standard questions the Dr. asked if I had ever counted calories, I replied that I had never done that. On the way out of the Dr. office my wife, who was seated behind the Dr. asked me if I knew what the Dr. had written? I of course replied no, well come to find out the Dr. put into the computer that I refused to count calories. D**n that Dr. cause that night I found this app on my phone and I have used it since.
Since July have gone from 356lbs down to 315lbs, I have maintained that weight now for a month and a half. Because of this app I can see were I have gone wrong and I am in the process of making changes.
Other facts about myself, i'm 45 yrs old, work in the corrections field, and in general have good health (no diabetes, heart problems, or other factors that come with being obese. My goal is to be down to 290 by the end of November, thus the making changes in my diet and exercise areas.

Congratulations on your weight loss this far. You definitely have a reason to be proud of yourself. I never counted calories either until I started this site. After I started doing so, I realized just how many calories I was consuming before and it was no wonder I got to be as big as I did. Counting calories has been essential to my weight loss. I'm almost at my half way point and still have a long way to go, but I'm not stopping until I reach my goal! I work in the corrections field as well which is what motivated me to start getting into better shape to begin with. I think that it is very important for our jobs, as we never know what kind of situation we might be put in where our fitness will play a role in the outcome of our well being. Keep up the great work Dwane! :)

Great work so far! You will be fab at this!! And sod that Dr! What a ****!
  • Great job on the lifestyle change! It is great to know that this app is helping so many. I have just started using it and I can already see a difference in how I think about food and my activity level. I am hoping to drop about 100 lbs slowly. I currently weigh 242 and would love to see the 100's again. I plan on doing it slowly this time as I do suffer from eating disorders and poor self image. I wish anyone who struggles with weight loss the best and hope that many more people encourage and help with the battle.

Its funny because it seems so simple, but I was the same way 1.5 months ago. I relied on commercials from the honest and reliable people who make Special K (or whatever) who told me people who eat more grains weigh less.

I am taking it all in because I realize its more than just counting calories, such as making those calories count, but so far, its working.

    Congrats to you!

Motivation meet determination. Bravo Zulu Dwane!
