Set point theory?

Hi everyone,.... just wondering here... I have lost 6 lbs in about three weeks since I started MFP.. whoo hoo. I have been really great at staying close to my 1500 calories per day, and I have been walking for about an hour x2 a week (probably need more). I weighed 178 for about a year... and 172 for about 7 years.... and I want to get down to at least 155. I was recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes and I'm on a mission not to get diabetes. I'm 58 yrs old. I am a bit discouraged that for two weeks I've stayed at 172.4.... Do you think my body wants to try and stay at that weight because that was my "set point" for so long? Should I bump up exercise....???? Thanks in advance!!

Your body is fighting to stay at your current weight, all of ours are. That is why losing weight is so difficult and maintaining it is even harder,
Add some exercise and make sure you are eating lots of protein to decrease hunger.0 -
You're just stalled a bit. Stick with what your doing and give it another week or two. If no change then, shake up your exercise with something a bit more challanging and see what that does.
You have to give it time.0
