Hi, i was training for my own half marathon but then i got distracted training for competition so i cant do distance runs atm only speed.
but this training schedule was working well for me and i was getting many pb's.

    3 days per week running.
    Day 1:
Race simulation run OR tempo run
    Example race simulation:
    15 mins easy
    12 mins moderate
    3 mins hard
    Example tempo run:
    10 mins easy
    20 mins moderate
    10 mins easy

    Day 2:
Long run, start from your longest running ability from now and try to go longer every time, dont focus on speed, focus on going longer, your speed will increase from youre other training. i got up to about 27km in 2hr 8secs.

    Day 3:
    HIIT OR Sprints
    Example HIIT:
    1 min jog/walk
    1 min sprint 70% max
    1 min jog/walk
    1 min sprint 90-100% max
    1 min jog/walk
    1 min sprint 90-100% max
    1 min jog/walk
    1 min sprint 90-100%
    1 min jog/walk
    1 min sprint 70% max
    1 min jog/walk

    example sprints:
    2 min sprint 90-100%
    1 min break
    etcc.

you could also make it pyramid style etc.

    hope this helps.
    im a trainee personal trainer!

I vote for Hal Higdon training programs.

3 day a week is not enough (IMHO)

How much are running right now?

(lots of street cred, 25 marathon, 35+ halfs, etc.)

I have completed 4 trail half marathons. I read the "Running for Mortals" by John "The Penguin" Bingham. I can't think of the other 2 books in this series, but they were very helpful.

    Good luck!! :)
