Body soreness-Do I give my body a break or work-out again?

Hey everyone,
Last night I did a really hard high-impact aerobic work-out and haven't worked out that hard for awhile (I just started up again). My body is really sore and I am exhausted, my body just feels heavy and tired. Should I give my body a rest, or should I do a light work-out, maybe yoga? Any suggestions? Thanks, I just don't want to overdo it and pull something or feel like complete crap that I don't workout this weekend. I tend to overdo things, even if it is good like exercise, and I want to make sure I am not doing too much. Thanks!

Maybe go walking. I have the same problem I did pilates on Friday and today I can't even move. The last time I went to the gym before that was in the summer so I need to keep going. Anyway walking isn't that strenuous and you wont feel like you didn't do anything. That's what I was planning on doing but I didn't want to go alone so I might do it tomorrow instead :)

    Hope that helped

Sometimes I can workout again after a good night sleep (your body recovers a lot during sleep), and other times I get to the gym and have to change it up. Keep listening to your body and you will know what to do over time. I can usually tell during a workout that I'll need the next day off or to change it up. You can always decide to do something and have a backup plan if it doesn't feel right.
  • Thanks for the advice. I ended up doing some yoga, which actually helped b/c it stretched a lot of my sore muscles. Thanks!
  • Thanks for your feedback. I ended up just doing a little yoga, so I took it easy. I feel a little better after stretching and relaxing my muscles. Thanks!
  • Thanks, I guess I will get better at knowing what my body needs as I continue exercising and trying new things. I appreciate the feedback.
