jogging speed for mfp

Maybe this has been on here before but when I jog a good pace for me is 4.1, right now, and to me I am working hard to keep that pace but when I record my excercise it says that pace is a brisk walk. Of course the calories burned are much higher if I am at 5.0 for the same amount of time. But I want to be honest too. I just feel like jogging at that pace should count as jogging and not brisk walking. Like I said, I know I am slow and so to get my 3miles 3-4 times a week it takes me a little over 40 min. At what speed is it considered jogging then if 4.1 is 'brisk walking'? I'm hoping as the weight comes off I will increase my pace, but I don't mind running for longer periods at that pace as I work up to longer distances.

I have heard that walking, jogging, and running all burn about 100 calories a mile.0

You can create your own exercise. I jog between 4.6 and 5mph so I just created my own.0

That's a myth that came from looking at calories burned based on physics where work=distance/time. The reality is you burn 40-50% more calories per mile if you are running or jogging (140-150 avg.) vs. walking (100 avg.) because while running, your center of gravity is being moved up and down (bouncing) which takes a lot more calories to accomplish than walking.
Nerdy, but true.0 -
This is where a HRM comes in if you want that accuracy.0
