I started 5 weeks ago and I have lost 2.72 lbs per week. Am I putting my self at risk for health problems? Should I start eating more to slow down my weight loss?

I think it depends on how overweight you are? I know if you are quite obese you can lose a lot quickly in the first few weeks, but after that initial period it usually settles down to 1-2 lbs a week. It's obviously not a good amount to lose for a long period of time as at that rate you probably arnt just losing fat, but also lean muscle which is kinda sucky. What kind of exercise (if any) are you doing?0

Hi there, I joined on Oct 11th and as of today I have lost 15.2 lbs and 2.5 inches on my waist. I think that's pretty fast(1.38lbs a DAY). However I think it is totally normal. I am really fat, without soda and mcdonalds (the way I was consuming it) I can't come near my calorie goal. The bigger we are the faster we lose because it takes a lot of energy to move all this stuff around.
As long as you are eating I would say at least 1200 calories then you should keep healthy. If you are active you should eat more. I see you have a daughter, if she is young I am sure that accounts for plenty of burnt calories. Make sure you log your food. Like me, I see you like to keep it plenty under your goal. you have over 4000 unused calories from last week, that accounts for more then a pound in itself. If you want to slow down eat more. But I don't think you need to slow down. Your food intake is looking good.0 -
Yeah you're fine. Keep in mind when you first start something like this, a few things happen. Your system is shocked by the increased activity and/or decreased intake. Also, your body sheds excess water almost immediately. I got back into this almost two weeks ago and I'm down almost a pound a day myself.0

I am doing 30 min of cardio and 15 min of rt a day.0

I'm down 117 pounds since mid-January, 2012 so I've averaged exactly 3 pounds per week for 39 weeks (in week 40 now). 1-2 pounds per week OR 1%-2% per week. I think you're fine0

your doing cool just dont get down if your progress begins to balance out to an average of 2lbs a week.0

No that's very normal. Especially if you are overweight.0
