Hitting a brick wall

So initially I lost 56 pounds, lost consistently each week. I ate around 1200 calories a day, went the gym etc.
I've had to quit the gym due to uni and having no time. Had a break from eating healthy, ate lots of junk but didn't put any weight on. Realised it was getting stupid and restarted eating 1200 calories and lost 6.5 pounds the first week. I realise this is water weight but a loss nonetheless.
But now the waters gone, my weight is just stuck again. I've hit a brick wall.

Is it true if I bump to 1400ish, I'll see my weight going down again?

Previously I stalled for about 2 months hence caving in to junk food. This time it's been 2 weeks and I can see it going the same way.

What's your BMR, TDEE at current weight? It could just be that you've reached the point where you need to start increasing calories. Especially if 1200 is your total, and not your net. Which would explain why you didn't gain any weight eating junk.
  • Exercise is the only way to acheve results try to fit just alittle bit in every day it realy helps

You should continue to lose weight at 1400, but you may want to say more about your height / weight / %bodyfat / exercise regime - do you walk for 20-40 minutes a day.

If you fancy something adventurous then 500 calories / 30g of protein two days per week is another way of achieving a weekly deficit that may be more effective.

I have been in the same spot and also had a major fall off the wagon, Talking to my trainer I realised that I needed to look and the macros rather than just the calories and it turns out I was not eating enough fat for my body to feel safe losing weight

I know that sounds strange but your body needs fat to survive (warmth, hormone production, vitamins absorption) if you cut this back too far for too long your body will just hold on to what it has a stall....

I am still coming to terms with this but I have a wonderful trainer who I totally trust and since adding fat I am beginning to believe this is working

I've reassesed my BMR and found that I've been eating too little, so I'm upping my cal intake from today.

I totally agree with Lucy and her trainer. We have been programmed over the years that fat is our enemy but our body does need small portions of it to stay healthy. I'd check with a nutritionist or dietician to make sue that you are getting the correct amounts of food especially if you are only taking in 1200 calories!
