Hello from Pennsylvania farm country...

Hi everyone,

Charley here.

This time I have to do it. I must lose 50 pounds. I can't carry this weight around anymore. My body hurts. My joints hurt. I don't feel happy with myself like I did 25 years ago when I weighed probably 65 pounds less than I do now.

I had blood work done for the first time in years, and much to my surprise, everything was either normal or high normal. Wow, it was like a new lease on life!

And here I thought I was a cholesterol heart attack waiting to happen (that's how my Dad died).

So I want to shed some pounds, treat myself better, get some new clothes, and not be afraid to go out in the world, wondering what people are thinking of me. I'm only 5' 5", so my present 200 lbs makes me chubby. Someone the other day rubbed my belly and said "You're having twins!". I DIDN'T think it was funny.

Thank goodness for reading USA Today, as that is where I found myfitnesspal!!!

I think it is going to work well for me. At all times in the past when I was logging my food intake I had my weight under control. But if I don't keep track, I am always in the weight gaining mode. In the old days I kept track on little slips of paper that I kept in my pocket. Now with my iPhone it is so freaking easy!

Best wishes to all of you out there that are in my boat. Don't be afraid to say "Hi".

Charley

Good luck with the loss, I was never able to stick to dieting but ever since I started with MFP I have been able to lose 1-2 pounds a week by logging and eating the correct amount of calories. Definitely a great community full of supportive people and positive feedback and a lot of motivation by looking at all the other people.

Thanks for accepting the friend request!

Hi Charley! I'm here for same reasons too! My dad died of massive heart attack at 45. I don't want that to happen to me. It would be great to not be dead, lol, AND not have my bones hurt too. If your looking for some motivation support please feel free to add me. Good luck! :)

I keep myself motivated by setting new goals when I’ve reached one. I use to weigh 350lbs now I am at 168lbs still pushing hard so I can totally relate. So keep on pushing yourself trust me if I did it you can do it. If you need an extra buddy feel free to add me :)
