I'm not a success story... not yet anyway :)... but I will be!

I'm posting here to motivate myself. I will be a success story. I know I can do it! I plan to return here throughout my journey and post updates and eventually post a "goal weight" pic and a success story :)

I am currently 222.9 pounds. I have always struggled with my weight and as an adult I have yoyo-ed from 145 pounds to my current weight (although I haven't been 145 for a LONG time). I am currently at my heaviest EVER. Two months ago I gave birth to my first child, my precious baby girl, via c-section :) 6 days before I discovered I was pregnant, I was 15 pounds lighter than I am now, was the heaviest I had ever weighed, and had just started an intensive weight loss regimen. After I learned I was pregnant, I tried my best to continue to exercise and eat as healthy as possible; however, I had a very rough pregnancy and was exhausted throughout most of the 9 months, making it very difficult to get through the day, much less exercise. I was admitted to the hospital at 34 weeks and three weeks later, my baby arrived. When I was admitted, I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and severe gestational diabetes (even though I passed the first glucose test at 28 weeks), and had ballooned up to 270 pounds (mostly due to fluid retention... two weeks after I had my baby, I had lost 55 pounds). Sadly, I truly believe that the difficulties I had throughout my pregnancy were largely due to my weight and overall poor health.

As I see my baby girl grow, I know that I want to be healthy and have the energy to play and run with her. I don't want to be the "fat mom". I don't want to develop diabetes when I'm older. I hate that when I see the pictures of me from the hospital when I gave birth, all I see is how huge I am. My father died when I was 26, I don't want my baby girl to experience the same thing simply because her mother didn't take care of her health. And I want my daughter to learn how to live a healthy life by example.

So, that being said... I will be back :) Not sure how long it will be until I write my success post, but I consider this post a promise to myself that I will not give up this time. Wish me luck fellow MFPers :) And good luck to all of you in your journey to a healthier you!!!

Don't sell yourself short... you've had a major success by finding MFP and taking advantage of the resources here --- this is HUGE success! Be ready - there will be ups and downs and times you'll want to give up. This isn't a sprint, it's a marathon (a trite little piece of MFP wisdom that is true for all it's over-use... lol). Forgive yourself your mistakes and keep your eye on the prize - a healthy long life with your family! Congrats and best wishes!!!

You have an awesome reason to do this, that precious baby!! You can do this for yourself and her. Take one day at a time, try different things and pick what works for you. That is the benefit of this site. Lots of people to inspire you and to get ideas from.
