Love losing weight, height spending money on clothes

I am just ranting.....

I love how I look now that I lost 28 lbs. I feel like me again. I actually feel thin. What I hate is the clothing transition until I reach my goal ( about 7-10lbs more). More specifically, I hate spending the money on the clothing transition.

Already had to buy new tops, a new light jacket, new winter jacket. Still need warm tops for winter, pajamas, sweats, workout clothes, underwear, and new work/dress pants. Thank god I kept all my old bras because those are too damn expensive.

Before I started MFP, I was just barely fitting into a size 10 but a size 12 was too big. After losing the first 10-20lbs, I was a size 8. I had all my old clothes before I gained weight so luckily, I did not need to buy pants but, oddly enough, all my old shirts were too big as I went from a medium to a small. I had to buy some shirts to get me through the current weather now its getting cold and I have to buy sweaters/cardigans. I am holding off on buying new pajamas, sweats, work out clothes, and underwear since I only have to deal with the baggyness in my own home. Work is a different issue. None of my work clothes fit. They are beyond baggy once I lost these past 8lbs. I need new work/dress pants but Im nervous to buy new clothes when I still have 7-10lbs to go.

How did everyone else deal with the numerous smaller clothing sizes until you reached your goal weight?

I still have more "some day" clothes to go through before I have to buy anything. The first thing I will have to buy is a new belt. I'm on the last holes.

I had everything taken in. If you can find a reasonable tailor, he/she should be able to make them last a little longer. I also lucked out because I had some suits and pants made and the seamstress is so nice that she said if I lose more weight, just call her and she'll take in all the things she made for free! Good motivator!

Fortunately i was optimistic enough to keep all my 'getting fat' clothes knowing that i would one day use them going the other way!

a friend also gave me an actual bin bag of size 10-16 stuff that i can use (when i get into it :)

I am excited to start getting into my clothes, though i do have a killer dress i want to buy in a size 12 and when i fit into it i want to buy a pair of matching underwear for my husband :)
  • I was a size 14 when I first started losing over 6 months ago. Now I'm a 12, can't quit make it into the 10-11 yet but I'm close. And I really feel for you, because its soooo hard to find a well-fitting pair of pants for me.
(I'm just over 5'1" so I need short and petite sizes, but since I weigh more than I should it causes a predicament) One thing I did was tailor some of my old jeans - the 14s that were on the baggier side. I don't know if you or anyone you know can sew well, but you can bring in the seams on the legs to make them fit better and all kinds of things. If you mess up throw them out, they were too big anyway! Definately invest in a good belt (or you could always add a hole to an old one) to avoid crack-exposure. Honestly though this is something to be happy about. I say screw it, splurge on yourself a little because you deserve it. New body, new clothes

I'm down one pants size and one shirt size. I can make the shirts work for the workplace for now, but had to get pants. I went to Goodwill this weekend and was able to find 2 pairs so far. I love them! I look like I have a butt again!

Got one bra, panties, work out pants, pajama pants, and a pack of men's undershirts at Wal-mart for very little $$. The men's undershirts are for sleeping in.

I've decided to check out Goodwill every weekend to keep my wardrobe functional, hopefully, especially for work clothes until I arrive at goal.

It's annoying but feels good at the same time. I was so stupid - I lost some weight and really felt so good about finally fitting into a pair of designer jeans, that I bought it halfway into reaching my goal (I wasn't sure that I'd actually ever get to my goal).

Now they are too big for me :(

I bought another pair now and it's also starting to look a bit baggy, so I'll have to wait until I'm finally done before buying another pair and then stocking up on more than just a single pair of jeans!!!

When I was about halfway in, I got so frustrated with my baggy clothes that I went and bought a whole bunch of new clothes. Most of it also too baggy now, but I can't keep doing this!!!

I'm just getting by with the minimum for now until I know that I'm finally where I want to be...

I was so confused by the title... I was like how much height did you lose? cause you are doing weight lose wrong if you are chopping off limbs :-P

Also 2 days ago I had to take a drill to my belt to create a new hole that is 4 inches away from the original holes on the belt. Luckily I still have some of my old close but I'm struggling and trying to avoid having to buy close until I get a bit lower. I've lost 60 lbs so far and still wearing same jeans but with the belt and try to cover my waist/belt area with shirts so you can't tell how much bigger they are. But like I said for professional clothes I still have some of my close from before.

I would suggest going to second hand stores, yard sales or rummage sales. That way you can get key pieces to keep you going without having to spend a lot of money. A couple of people in my area have started online yard sale sites via Facebook, maybe you can look to see if there is anything like that in your area or start one yourself. Good luck! I can't wait until I have that problem!

Sorry, typo with my title :) Should have said "hate" not height...anyway,

I tried making most of my tops last longer by belting my waist but I cant do that any longer. The underarms are way too big and I have went down 4 belt notches on my waist and I already use a size small belt.

Wow...60lbs lost and wearing the same jeans! I dont know if I would be able to take that---I'm surprised you can pull that off even with a belt. Congrats on losing 60lbs!
