"gardening, general" calorie burn

Gardening is tough work, but when I spend 3 hours in the garden (weeding, raking leaves, bundling sticks, planting bulbs), it sure doesn't feel like I've burned 1,434 calories. Can that possibly be true? Or should I be looking for more accurate calorie burn from my activities (or, I know...get a Fitbit)?

Yes, I know what you mean. That sounds high. Maybe if you get a heart rate monitor it would give you a more reliable number? I don't know enough about the fitbit to know if it would work when you are not walking.0
