Losing what I gained back!

Hi everyone!

I am 23, and I lost around 60 lbs about two years ago. That was the first time that I had really dedicated myself to losing weight and actually stuck to it! Now, two years later, I have gained most back and feel disappointed and gross. I know I'm supposed to stay positive, but it's really hard to do when I don't feel like I look good in any clothes anymore.

I know a lot of what has made it tough is just general life changes- graduated college, losing/gaining friends, new jobs, real life, etc. I am a first year teacher and last week at conferences, I had a parent ask me when I was due :( I need help and support! Has anyone gone through a similar situation? What was helpful?

Thanks!
Katie

I can totally relate! I lost over 40 pounds about 6 years ago and have gained almost all of it back in the past few years. I've had people ask me when I was due before - arg! - and it's time to rededicate myself to better eating and exercise habits. I wish I could have that type of body that looks okay without too much effort, but I don't. Time to step it up again and go back to those smaller clothes.

The last time somebody asked when I was due, I said "I'm not pregnant, and you should really be more careful before you ask that." The women was mortified (and rightly so). I try to remind myself that it's just my body type and not to let it get me down, but instead let it motivate me!

The good news is, we've lost the weight before and we can do it again. Good luck!

THANK YOU for the support. I've never done something like this but it is awesome to hear how people are dealing with the same thing, and in a positive way! Nice to have someone who has been through it before.

Hi there! I get it. I lost 45 pounds three years ago. Unfortunately, due to several things, I gained it all back plus ten more. As a teacher, I get the stress, short lunches, stress and sudden meetings. Feel free to send me a friend message.

I think we've all been there. Before my big loss the last 18 months, I lost and gained the same forty pounds at least six times over 15 years. Its hard to make a lifestyle change. The biggest thing to remember is to not let one mistake ruin the day. Overeating 300 calories vs. blowing the whole day and consuming an extra 1500....that kind of thing.

I also like the 21 days to a habit mindset. Usually if I can make myself get up and go to the gym early in the morning for a whole week, I'll keep it up. I don't even need 21 days.

My weight so often is like a yo-yo...lose 10, gain 15, lose 20, gain 10...but it's all learning. Whether it is learning how to stay motivated and keep will power or learning your triggers (I'm a stress eater and often don't take time to prepare healthy meals). Once we know the causes for bad decisions, we can work to make better choices.

You will do amazing! I'm new here, but from what I can tell, this site is full of motivated, encouraging people excited on their own journeys and who are more than happy to help motivate others through their own struggles. I think we have come to the right place. You're going to rock this!
