Alright ya'll.....after doing a quick search in the forum for the word "weekend," I can see that I am soooo not alone in my struggles to maintain control on the weekends. What has worked for me from time to time in the past was to write out a weekend plan before Friday afternoon. This would help me to stay the course better because I had already thought it through.

I will admit that I am RARELY "perfect" on the weekends. I almost always have a cheat meal planned. Or I sometimes will allow a free day. My free day usually ends up being ok, calorie wise, but it allows me to eat guilt free for a day (within reason).

So...I'm beginning a new weekly thread here. Looking for some extra accountability and a forum where I can share my plan. welcome feedback, and celebrate my successes.

General idea is this:

1 - Submit your plan by end of day Friday (I am also going to cut/paste my plan into my blackberry so that I can review it throughout the weekend)

2 - Check in over the weekend as needed. To review your plan? How's it going? Need a little push to help you "stay the course" when you feel like you've already flubbed it up?

3 - Monday and Tuesday: report back...evaluate...what do you want to change for next weekend?

Who'd like to join me?

    Me too.

Plan - I am going to the grocery tomorrow so I will go armed with a menu and a plan.

Run Sat and Sun - NO excuses!

Dinner out on Sat with friends - mexican. Check out the menu online before going. Bowling afterwards so that is good.
Treat - 2 light beers (I have been saving up all month) :drinker:

    I'm so in with this!

I don't know what my plan will be other than to make HEALTHY choices. No candy! No Sweets!

    Log what I do eat.

Any exercise I might get in will be bonus, but it would be good for me....so I might take a walk or two, depends on the weather!

As always, I count on ya'll to kick my butt if need be also!

That's my plan and I'm stickin to it!

OK! Glad to see I'm not alone here!

Friday -- business as usual for breakfast/lunch. Going to a Fish Fry for dinner. I debated this...went back and forth in my head on whether or not this was a wise decision. Landed on "its ok". I WILL choose the healthiest options there and figure out a way to make this meal within budget.

Saturday -- business as usual for breakfast/lunch. Evening is going to be tough. I am going to use this as my "free meal" since there's not likely to be the healthiest of choices where I will be. And there will be drinking. I don't drink alot (cheapskate & light-weight) so that's not usually the problem. The appetizer buffet, on the other hand, WILL be problematic. I will focus on the reasons I'm out .. not to eat, but to be with my friends in support of another friend who is battling a very nasty cancer.

Sunday -- detox day! Nothing unusual about Sunday. Making dinner for my parents so it's likely to be a tad bit "bigger" than a normal dinner. I'm thinking a simple baked chicken and smashed potatoes, though...so it should fit nicely into the day if I plan it that way.

There you have it. That's my plan. I need to stick to it. I think having my typical breakfast/snack/lunch/snack on the weekends is going to be beneficial to keeping me on track.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    So far so good!

Ended up skipping the Fish Fry last night .. had Panera Chicken Noodle Soup, Whole Grain baguette for dinner and then some kettle corn while watching Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure with M.

This morning I had yogurt, honey, granola w/ a smidge of dried cherries. Had a turkey sausage link on whole wheat bun and deli cous cous salad (will have to find a recipe for this!) at home for lunch. Going out tonight...planning on being "good" but not obsessive about it.

    Tomorrow should be ok foodwise.

    Yay!

So.....how did everyone do this weekend?

Did you stick to your plan?
    Did you LOG?
Were you "aware" of your food choices?
Did you get any extra exercise?

I stuck to my plan for the most part. The big difference between this weekend and most others is that I LOGGED my foods. Oftentimes before eating. This is a really great tool that I need to remember. I had not planned on eating breakfast with my parents on Sunday morning, but they were making blueberry pancakes and bacon and asked if I wanted breakfast when I picked up Maya in the morning. I could have said no, but I realized that I didn't need to. I logged it before hand and while I consumed more calories than I normally would have, it was ok. Mission accomplished!

I know that I ate outside of my calorie range on Saturday and Sunday, but it was not WAY over.

I didn't really get any real exercise in this weekend but I did spend 2 hours at the pool yesterday playing with Maya. I even went down the wicked fast BIG slide. That was fun!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Overall - I did pretty good. The only day I went over was Sunday night because dinner was late and I started munching. But otherwise really good. ZERO weight loss. But now that I am over whining (thanks Lu!) I will move on.

    Logged EVERYTHING.
    Exercised as planned
Only over calories one out of 3 days.

    Let's do this next weekend!

So despite NOTHING going according to plan, I had a good weekend.

I ended up going out with the girls Saturday and had alcohol. But, I was very aware of my food choices and still came in under calories even with the alcohol.

On Sunday, I went up to my mom and dad's - which is a HUGE trigger zone for me. But, I controlled myself there too. I did eat more than I would have at home, but barely. Really, I just had a bigger breakfast and maybe a bigger portion at lunch. I didn't snack, and I really controlled supper! So, I'm calling it a somewhat major success. Just because it was a trigger zone, and I made it through relatively unscathed!!

    AWESOME job Becka and Beth!

I will do this again for the coming weekend. Thankfully I have only ONE "danger" event this coming weekend...the rest will be pretty easy. AND? It's suppose to be in the 50s and (i think) sunny on Saturday...I see a trip to the Zoo in our very near future..you know, along with every other family in St. Louis! LOL!

I totally kicked this past weekends butt! I ate within my calorie range every day.

After yesterday's day of being sick (I still ate 700+ calories for the day.) I'm ready to go for a new week! Yay!

    Loving it!
