I went to the gym today and was starting my usual lifting and I felt really weak. Ended up just walking on the treadmill for awhile instead.
Anyone else feel weak while lifting during TOM?

Could it be your iron is low?
My bc makes my period nothing but a bit of light spotting, so I don't have that problem.0 -
I'm not a Lady, I am not bound by your rules!
I like working out with TOM, pretty chill for the most part.0 -

It depends. Sometimes if I haven't been getting enough iron and protein in me, I get really weak. So then I just up my protein intake (which also helps with the iron), and I'm usually good to go. You especially want to do this if you're lifting weights since you need more protein anyways to help your muscles recover.0

I've never really had this problem during TOM, but I tend to eat about 600-700 calories for breakfast before a lifting routine. You may find it helpful to increase your calories a bit around TOM.0

caffeine is your friend at this time. once you get moving you will feel better!0

I lift through it all... If I feel really queasy, I just do arms, so I'm on my back and work my bi's and tri's and my chest. just not standing up.0

Ditto with the Iron/Protein experience during my TOM. I find that if I'm really feeling down, and out, but don't want to miss my gym time, I'll get myself some steak or other lean red meat to eat just before my workout - it takes a little bit to push past, but once the protein kicks in, I'm usually able to get done without too much struggle. My pain tends to sit lower on my legs/abs, tho, so that might make the difference. If you don't eat red meat, I would try a rich, fatty fish like salmon or tuna - these both have proven to work for me, as well.
Hope that helps.0 -

I don't lift but I do run across this issue for cardio workouts during TOM. I make myself slog through it and I do supplemental with extra vitamins. I will try the suggested iron to see if that helps!0
