So, about 6 months ago I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. It took me about 3 more months to do something about it. I started working out with a personal trainer. HARD work, lost inches and no lbs came off. I stuck with it anyway. A friend told me about this site so I signed up about a week ago. Journaling what you eat makes a HUGE difference. I have lost 5 lbs now. So, I think I'm on my way to creating some good habits, as long as I don't give up! I worry about that because after a while, I get busy and start making excuses for not eating right. But, I'm on a mission and really believe I can do this. It may take me a while, but I am going to try really hard to stick with this. I tend to get discouraged when I don't see the results I think I should see. My friends are telling me to quit paying attention to the scale and work on being healthy, so I'm on a journey.
I have been reading alot of posts on this site, and I know that I CAN DO THIS!

I am the queen of excuses - or at least I was. I think eventually most of us get to a point where enough is enough and we decide it's time for a "REAL" change. Mine came about a month ago. I bought a fitness program I saw on t.v. (nothing new - I have quite a collection that is collecting dust). I actually bought it because my (slightly chubby) son said it looked like fun. I thought I'd be able to get us both moving (so far no-go for him). I had to take "before" photos, and when I looked at them, they made me cry. I guess I hadn't realized how my weight had gotten away from me. So, I started improving my diet (which is definitely not perfect) and doing a regular exercise routine. I'm on day 26 and I haven't been able to find even one excuse that was good enough to miss my work-out. Now that it's become routine, I really enjoy it - it's "me" time when life is a little crazy. You can do it!
I'm also impatient about results - I get hung-up on the scale number and get frustrated. I look in the mirror and still think "fat, disgusting, etc", but last weekend I fit in my favorite skirt without any "overhang", so I know I'm making progress. I still have a long way to go, but at least I'm headed in the right direction.
Feel free to friend me if you'd like. I'm pretty new on here and could use support too.0 -
Welcome and YOU CAN DO THIS! What a good start on your journey already! 5 Pounds?? That is great. I worry about the scales all the time but I was reading a post on here and took the advice. Measure your neck, waist and hips right now and record that. When the scale does not bulge, get out your measuring tape and you will be so surprised. Good luck to you.0
