Juice Fast ( Is it Completely Crazy )

I have a question . So I've been considering a juice fast , recently & looking online for tips , information , recipes , etc . . . & I was wondering if anyone on here has ever done one ? & if so , how long ? how did you feel ? how much did you lose ? did you gain back any or all your weight when you went back to non-juice fasting ? What kind of juices did you make during your fast ? Did you exercise during the fast ? How did you go off of the juice fast ? Sorry for so many questions , i just really would like some answers .

The only thing you lose by juicing is the fiber which you need and contains few to no calories so what would the point be?0

Why do you want to do this? I totally get wanting a high micronutrient-loaded diet, but why not load micronutrients with whole foods as part of a healthy, balanced diet? Why eliminate the fiber, and go super low fat and low protein?
ETA: Some vitamins (fat soluble) really NEED fat to be properly absorbed- so you're kind of eliminating those micronutrients as well.0 -
Buy a good juicer try doing that for breakfast for a week and if it floats your boat go full tilt for a few weeks.0

The MFP way is not the short way. I doubt you'll find much support for this here.
Not to be sarcastic or unsupportive but why do you want to do a juice diet? Is there some study that has been done to show that it is a safe and effective way to lose weight? I suggest you research it more before diving in.0 -
yes I have done it. I am not keen on long term for myself.
A couple months back I was having a lot of stomach troubles and my liver enzymes were elevated and I felt SICK. I juiced for a couple days with plenty of things like beet, radish, kale, carrots, etc. Not eating so many solids helped give my tummy a break and the nutrients helped me feel better. I felt like I needed it.
But I wouldn't juice for weight loss long term. I think ideally, whatever method you lose weight with should be one that you can maintain for life. If you juice to lose, then you won't learn the eat properly that comes with all the experience of of losing via eating solids.
I have to say, though I assume you know, I would NOT juice with store bought juices. Even the unsweetened ones are concentrated. They are nothing like fresh juice from a juicer. Big difference.
Also, you can load up on too many fruits and not enough veggies. What you put in your juice matters unless you want huge blood sugar rushes and drops. Some fruit is great, just don't overdo it.
I thinking juicing has a place in my life, but it is a limited one and mostly only for boosting nutrition sometimes. I can sneak veggies in, that I wouldn't otherwise care for which is nice.0 -
Watch "fat sick and nearly dead" for a pro juicing perspective. Why not eat the veggies and fruit instead? You'll get the fiber and feel more full.0

The arguement on that movie was basically you can pack a lot more nutrients into your day via the juice that you can by eating them straight up. It takes quite a lot of veggies and fruits to make the juice. There is a degree of logic in that.
Aside from using it for an occasional nutrient boost, I still think it is better to go with a method of loss that you can really learn from and "drill into your mind and heart" as a way to live for the rest of your life.
Besides, juicing is quite expensive. If you go organic with it, the cost will make you pass out in the produce aisle.0 -
Perhaps you just look very young, I do as well but you look like you're still in HS which makes me think you should stay away from any diets like this. HS students tend to be very active and your bodies are still growing therefore juice fasts aren't a smart idea. This is one of the crash type diets that's pointless since you can't possible sustain it.
Also only have a few pounds to lsoe which means you should only be losing .5 pounds a week if you think a juice fast is the answer to weight loss you're misinformed it most likely wont be weight you keep off, the faster you lost especially when it's onl a few pounds. the harder it is to keep off0 -
Yes, I did it for a week... it makes you cranky... horrible. It cleansed my body... but it sucked. lemon hot water for breakfast lunch and dinner before your juice. SUCKS if you want more info on it feel free to pm me.0

Your ptofile says you have struggled with eating disorders. I think it is more important for you to learn to eat well than to do a crash diet that is easy to mess up. Take care of your body:)0
