Losing inches ,not lbs on the 30day shred...

Hey everyone!!

So, I am on level 2 day 4 of the shred, and to be honest, i feel much stronger and my endurance has improved a lot.
I weigh myself daily( always have) and I thought i would for sure see the scale move by now, especially considering this is the first time im adding in working out to my weight loss journey( i only walked and watched what i ate before).

I have noticed I have been on a plateau for almost 2 months, so i think that might have something to do with it. I am losing inches though, so far, 5.8 inches throughout my body(with shred alone), so that's good i guess.

I know i shouldn't fixate myself on the scale and its the devil lol but I really wanna break the 180 mark and It's kind of discouraging when you know you've been working at it everyday and staying within your cal's.

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated at this time while im in a mental rut!

Thanks , and have a greattt day, it's almost friday!

  • I have 4 days left of the shred. I saw the scale stay for about 2 weeks and then started losing pounds. The inches came quick. I have lost 6 lbs and about 6 inches and thats amazing for 30 days!
Keep it up, and you will see great improvement on muscle tone and the way your clothes fit:)

    Stop weighing yourself :)

You are losing inches, gaining muscle, and becoming more healthy.
The number on the scale doesnt do its justice.

We were all mental slaves to that number on the scale, until you learn to let go it will be hard to feel your progress and see it. I would take stronger and more endurance over lbs lost any day. Also getting stronger means more muscles which means burning more fat during workouts, it just takes time but you will get better results in the end :)

    Hi,
I think its typical with 30S. So long as you are losing inches then keep at it! I found that my weight loss slowed when I did 30S but my body shrank!!
I dont agree that the stall in weight is to do with increased muscle mass only. I beleive that you retain more water during intense excercise which may account for your weight 'stall'. Personally I took a break after the shred for a week and I lost 3lbs which I'm sure was all the water weight I was holding on to. I've now started Ripped in 30 and I hope to get some results.
Best of luck and well done with your inches lost!

Stop weighing yourself daily... It can be discouraging. If you feel you must weigh yourself try and only do it once a week. Be sure to also take measurements and photos. The tape measure and photos can give you a better perspective of your progress. O will say again as many have said it before, muscle weighs more than fat. If you ate dropping inches and not pounds, that is good. The more lean muscle you have, the higher your metabolism will be. Keep up your hard work and stay with it. You will get there. :)

Losing inches =/= plateau. A plateau is a complete lack of progress in either direction (losing/gain inches, weight, etc.). You're not a plateau, girl... you're just making progress where it counts!

I've never done shred but its sounds like:

Muscle weighs more than fat. You are stimulating muscles much more than you were by walking. That's all there is to it really.

I bet if you have your old and new measurements and put them into a body fat calculator you'll see your change there rather than on a scale. Sometimes you have to look harder. :)

Drink lots of water and take at least one rest day a week.

When I did the shred, I didn't see a change on the scale until I made an effort to drink AT LEAST 8 cups of water a day and I took my first rest day.

    Seriouslyyyyyyyy stop weighing every day.

I totally get what being fixated on a number is like....but you have to learn that it doesn't take into account so many factors...body fat, muscle, etc... it isn't a true indicator of success or health. If you are losing inches, and feel yourself getting stronger, your body is changing and that is awesome.. focus on that and try to forget about the scale for a bit. The less you stress about it, I bet the easier it will be for your body to let go of those last few pounds.

I am a 30 Day Shredder who weighs almost everyday. At the moment, I am going through an exercise slump where I have dropped my exercise by 90% in the past 3 weeks. Only did the Shred L4 about 4 times in that span.

I will tell you what it has done to me. I did not gain weight. I did however, gain inches. The reason I know is due to my jeans fitting a little tighter. It bothers me that the scale stays the same but I feel and AM larger in size.

I say don't worry about it and keep it up!!

I am proof that weight is the loser in this game.

i'm on week 7 of blending together the 30DS and RI30, five days a week, and i bring my A game, and i've lost 1 pound (I only have 8 total to lose, but i started out very soft and fluffy). but, i've had to stop caring about the scale. who cares when the inches are falling off, the muscles are toning up, and the clothes are fitting sooo much better?

just stick with it, have patience, and your body will continue to shape up, and isn't that the goal? it may not match your idea of what your number on the scale should be, but i think a lot of people's perceived ideal weight doesn't match up with actually being fit and having muscles...

thank you everyone. I am so glad that i have people to talk to and relate with their own personal experiences and knowledge on these matters.

I am definitely going to stop stressing about the scale and focus on the inches. In due time that will change too!

:flowerforyou: I just finished day 4 level 2,and i feel so much stronger than day 1!! Love how strong I am feeling!!!
