Weighing in~

Okay, I was just curious for some advice on weighing in......I have noticed some people weigh in every few days, should I be doing this? I have been weighing in once a week because I heard you shouldn't weigh in more than that, because your weight goes up and down frequently throughout the week. What do you all think? Should I keep doing my once a week, or should I do it every few days? HELP. :drinker:

You can do what you want but the suggestion of MFP is to weigh-in once a week. :flowerforyou: Good luck to you on your journey. :bigsmile:0

I weigh in once a week, because personally I can get a bit obsessed with standing on the scales every morning. It begins to run my day! Once a week is enough to check that you're going in the right direction but not so often that you see daily fluctuations. Hope my opinion helps? P0

You should record you weight once a week......me I have a very bad tendency of listening to the scale when it tells me to weigh myself everyday........haha.......but it is really up to you how you want to do it and how you log it in. What I usually do is I tend to record when there is a change in what my previous recorded weight was......Hope this helps0

Yeah, I think I will stick to the once a week weigh in, which is every Saturday, first thing in the morning. I do log in my new weight every week on MFP, if I didn't, I wouldn't remember what I lost or what I weigh! lol0

I'm a serial weigher. I weigh every morning, but only post mid-week if I've had a significant loss (anywhere from 2 - 5 lbs). I know my body weight changes depending on what I eat, water intake, my activity, time of day, etc..... but I like seeing the numbers. I feel like it keeps me in check.
I've read articles that say it's not good to weigh everyday, and I've read articles that say it is good.
My suggestion is do what works for you! If you're obsessing about the numbers EVERYDAY, that's not good. (I don't obsess, I simply just weigh and make an observation. LOL:o) If you're content with a once a week weigh in, and are happy with the number that you're seeing, then I say continue doing it!

Do not weigh-in every week. Once a week is all you need to do. People who weigh-in every day do themselves a major disservice by doing so, as they usually freak out about a .2 pound gain and stop eating or work out to the extreme, etc...
Weigh yourself once a week, for your own sanity. I used to weigh myself 2x a day and record it in an Excel spreadsheet. That's how eating disorders come about, just track your food honestly and exercise. Weigh yourself once a week, try to make it the same day at an approximately the same time. I do it every Sunday between 7 and 8 AM.0 -

Thank you! I am trying friend. Hard work, but it will be worth it. I told you, I have this big wedding in August, and I wont be the fat chick wearing a black dress! That's how I felt at the last wedding I went to, and when I saw pictures of myself at the wedding, I wanted to cry my eyes out. I am looking forward to a new me.....and I am looking forward to buying a vibrant SMALLER dress for this wedding. lol You are motivating me, so please dont stop!!!! he he he0

I just thought I'd "weigh in" on the topic...
I weigh myself every day and sometimes multiple times a day... not to "count" the gain or loss - but to learn more about my body and how it works. If I weigh a pound or two more for a couple of days and then suddenly drop - I can go back to my food log and see whether I ate enough fiber, too much sodium, etc. If my scale is up more than a week - I count that as a gain. If my scale is down for more than a week - I count it as a loss. I just think that I was so out of touch with how my body works that it's important to learn how much my weight generally fluctuates and how different foods are effecting my weight - along with how they make me feel.
You have to do what feels comfortable to you and will keep you motivated!0 -

LOL! I must be one of the priveleged 10%. There is no danger of an eating disorder here. I would agree that if someone is at risk of obsessing about the scale - they shouldn't get on everyday... but that's not me. For me the bathroom scale is just a tool - just like my kitchen scale.... it just helps keep me on track.0 -
Sister- DO NOT weigh you self everyday!!! I repeat ,,don't do it our family tends to retain water and it will show up on the scale some days as an extra five pounds. I lost my four pounds that I was complaining about. I seriously think the steriods contributed to that weight gain. I fell better that the scale was down this morning. Love, Big SIS and hopefully not the fat mother of the bride in August. LOL0
