Looking up food

Hey everyone!
I am having a little trouble tracking some of the food I eat, like today I ate out at a restaurant and had some kind of cold shrimp salad, but I am not sure what kind and how much dressing was already in it, and some of the entries that popped up when I typed this in were significantly different in calorie content. I guess sometimes I feel like the nutrition info that comes up is not the actual info for the food I ate, so I feel that sometimes when I log a food it is over or under the amount of calories, fat, etc., that I actually consume. Any suggestions? I know I could ask for nutrition info, but what if they don't have any?

If it is a chain restaurant, it most likely has a website or a smartphone app with nutritional data.
Sometimes you just have to make your best guess by looking up the component of the meal. X ounces of shrimp, X tablespoons of dressing, x cups of veggies, and roll or croutons, etc.
You can't always log perfectly. Just make your best guesses. As long as you aren't eating at restaurants every single day, it won't matter much in the long run.0 -
when there is a significant difference, i go with one in the middle. i think part of logging is just being aware. also if i am not sure i will exercise a little bit more.0
