couch to 5k question

My mom wants to start doing Couch 2 5k with me, but she has a bad back will this be a problem for her?

    It starts off real slow - week 1 is jog 60 seconds, walk 90 seconds (for 20 minutes). I would think that she would know pretty quickly if it is going to bother her. As long as she can walk for 30 minutes and is cleared by her doc to exercise she should be o.k. She could even make a week 1a if she wanted and jog 30 seconds, walk 60 or 90. :smile:

    I agree. I don't see any reason why she wouldn't be able to do it. Just go at her own pace but definitely check with her doctor first. Good luck to you both.

    she can also repeat weeks if she is not ready to move on. when i started it last year, my lungs were shot. i did only five minutes of running in week one (instead of eight), on week two moved up to six minutes repeating week one, on week three moved up to seven minutes repeating week one, etc. until i could move on without a struggle.
