I would just like some explaining of how this works....

The skinnier you get, the more you can eat... But if your fat you can eat that much to just maintain?! Does it all have to do with working out?!

  • There is a group (Called Eat More To Weigh Less) that follows this principle. It was confusing for me too, at first. But depending on your specific needs and goals, it truly IS possible to eat more to weigh less! Using myself as an example, MFP guided plan had me eating 1200 calories/day (and I did just that for about a month) but I literally didn't lose a single pound. Not one! So I decided to seek help from MFP forums, and I found (or I should say she found me) a wonderful woman who helped me tremendously! I was eating below my BMR, so how was I ever going to lose weight when my body thought I was starving?! Technically I WAS starving. That's where the "eat more, weigh less" comes in. By upping my calories to a little over 2000/day, I am confident that I'll start to see the results I'm wanting, AND as an added bonus I'm not cranky, tired, generally unpleasant to be around, anymore! YAY! I hope this helps :) best of luck

No no no, you're confused lol. Skinnier people don't get to eat more. It's that the calories on MFP aren't typically enough.
    Read this:

That should explain it pretty clearly. Also, use this link: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/

    Hope that helps!

A smaller body will have a lower BMR.

Also, when you diet, BMR tends to decrease lower than what would be expected by the subtraction of weight, that is, it lowers for more reasons than you just getting smaller.

Basically, it is just creating a smaller deficit so as not to slow down your metabolism.

Your calories should be geared to your body, not just the random 1200 calories that MFP assigns to everyone when they select to lose 2 lbs per week.

I eat 1850-2000 cals every day and I am losing on average a half to .7 lbs per week.
  • i think it all depends on muscle mass and how much ur burning threw exercise to. on days i burn 500-700 cals i do eat 2300 cals and im 5'1.5 120lbs, but if i sit on my *kitten* all day i only eat 1200-1400

oh ya and i havent lost weight since may
  • Example:

Back in 2008 I weighed over 300lbs. I had to eat around 1,700 calories to lose 2lbs a week.

I now eat 2,100 calories a day if I want to lose 2-3 lbs a week (because I have gained muscle--which burns more calories).

These would also be very similar p90x workouts.
