How do you ward off hunger when dieting?

Looking for ideas of what has worked for you to ward off hunger. I am tired of chewing gum :)

I eat...when I'm hungry I eat. Plenty of fruits and veggies, plenty of water and space my meals and snacks to cover the whole day.

How much are you eating now? Are you eating out a lot?

If you're hungry, either you're eating too little or likely not eating enough protein and fiber rich foods. Meals with higher fat, fiber, and protein will help keep you feeling fuller longer than a meal with too little fat and low fiber. Things like lean meats, starchy veggies, and things like that will help quite a bit.

It is the mindset first off, If you are dieting then you think you are being deprived and that makes you more hungry. Diet is a dirty word. But like many have said, eat lots of low calorie veggies and snacks and plenty of water. When I first started on MFP I would eat a whole bag of celery on my night shift. I ate so much of it that I have not had any for about six months, but it kept me full and the calories are soooo low. Good luck

I don't think you need to ward off hunger............when your hungry eat! Just eat better things then your use to eating. If or when your exercising, you're gonna get hungry, don't deprive yourself, just make better eating choices. You'll soon learn............as I am, you don't need to eat less stuff to "diet"..........you just need to eat better stuff, and then soon, you'll need to eat more than you are now, I'm serious, it's happening to me, I'm burning calories, and I need to refuel, that means eating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You go gurl! Eat all you want, just healthier stuff!

    sauteed squash.

its been so long since ive "had" to have any, i cant remember the calories, but i think its like 35 for a medium one you get in the grocery store?

cut off the tips, cut it lengthwise twice, then chop.

pam spray a pan, spice with onion powder, garlic powder and Mrs, Dash table blend. (heavy seasoning here...)

    saute until tender.

its a HUGE pile, and will fill you up for less than 50 calories.. but (again, cant remember) i think its in the 30's or 40's for the whole thing!

I don't really get hungry at all because of the way I eat. I try to eat clean as much as possible so I can have more volume of food for my calories. I also like to combine complex carbs & lean proteins at the same meal. And, instead of eating 3 big meals, I eat 5-6 small meals per day. I rarely eat "empty" calories so I get more bang for my buck so to speak. When I do overeat, it's emotional. Finally, exercise and you'll have more wiggle room in your daily calorie budget.

Tea! My current favorite is Genmaicha green tea... it's green tea mixed with toasted rice. It gives it a hearty flavor and I use it when I know my hunger is just in my head. :D

Tea is my go to as well! it's better than plain water because it takes time to drink and by the time I'm done I realize that I wasn't actually all that hungry.

I'm going to have to try out this Genmaicha green tea though! Sounds good. :)
