Hi
Just Joined recently and have a set 1200 calories for the day but if I exercise by swimming for 20 minutes I gain 184 calories back..
It seems to defeat the purpose. of trying to lose weight when you give me back what I v just worked off?

I love ths site its extremely good and very helpful

You weight loss is built into your 1200 daily calories. This is called your calorie deficit. If you do not eat the 184 calories that you burned swimming you are raising your deficit amount by 184 calories. Usually is is suggested by folks here to eat back half of your exercise calories. Just remember Your Millage May Very.

My trainer tells me not to eat the calories back from exercise unless I'm really hungry that day. I have a lot to lose, so that's what has been working for me.

Hi Crave! I'm glad you asked the question, because I've been wondering about that too! After reading the great responses here and in other messages, it looks like this is something that you sort of work out according to what works for you. It seems easier for me to track my exercising separately from my calorie log... But I have been known to add my workout in when I'm sure that I am going to eat (or have eaten) more than my alotted 1200 calories! Ha! Blessings!
