tendonitis in the ankle?

over the past 3 or 4 days i have been getting these sharp pains in my ankle at the top of my foot. sometimes the pain is so intense i feel like throwing up but dont. its odd because i cannot determine what actions cause the pain. this morning when i put my socks on i was wiggling my foot to get them on all they way then i got the sharp pain. it lasts for about 3 or 4 seconds then goes to a dull achy pain for 20-60 minutes. but if i repeat the same action hours later, there is no pain? i wore a brace all day yesterday and it seemed to help (i think). when i look up tendonitis on line it only shows the back of the ankle, the achilles tendon. the top is not tender to touch and there is only minor swelling. i have been icing it when i get home from work.
can you get tendonitis on the top of your foot? or should i go get x rays?

You can get tendonitis in the front of the foot. It's the anterior tibialis. I hurt mine when I increased the incline on the treadmill doing HIIT. See if flexing then pointing foot hurts - that was my symptom. Doc recommended rest and ice and compression . It helps0

I have that, too. Have had if for 4-5 years, off & on. Went to a doctor and followed his treatment for 6 weeks. Got better for a while but came back. Funny thing is I won't have problems for months and then it just flares up again.
I take Advil for the pain and try to flex my foot a lot throughout the day.
See a doctor if it gets worse or doesn't go away in a couple of weeks.
Good luck!0 -
While I do not have tendinitis in my ankle I do have tendinitis in my knee/quad area and have found stretching really helps. I am also going to physical therapy which has been helping as well0

Had similar problem. It was bad for a year. During which I slowed down my excercise. I walked at a moderate pace, wore a brace and had days off when it hurt really bad. Dr. told me there was nothing he could do had to wait for it to heal. Then, I lost 10 pounds and it became alot better. i don't know if the weight loss had anything to do with it or not but now i feel almost nothing. I would say if you don't take it easy when you need to it may prolong the pain. Take care of yourself by being kind to yourself!!0
