Would this be detrimental to my weight loss efforts?

I have just posted in the introduction section, with my background.
Cliff notes: I lost 15 kilos earlier this year (Yay!) and put 20 back on (Boo!)
I have attributed my falling off the wagon.. and then getting reversed over by the wagon.. to going too hard to fast. I would also allow myself a “cheat day” where I would essentially stuff my face all day, and think about this day all week with eager anticipation. I don’t think this is healthy and want to eliminate that while at the same time not depriving myself.
My question is, as it is my birthday next week, I have a few things planned- My birthday is on the Wednesday, I will eat my normal meals as planned, but usually work will buy a cake and I would like to have a little bit. I can easily fit this into my calorie allocation for the day. On the Saturday my husband is taking me to the theatre and to an expensive buffet style restaurant for dinner. I think I can manage eating lean cuts of meat, fresh seafood and salad- again, if I watch what I eat I should be able to enjoy myself and still eat within my calories.
The next day on the other hand I have a family lunch at a seafood restaurant there is a set menu of calamari entrée, lobster mornay main, and blueberry cheesecake dessert.
I am worried about this lunch and thinking of cancelling- do you think I will be ok if I eat well the rest of the week and keep up with my daily exercise?

One day out of 365 won't sink your efforts. It takes 3500 extra calories to gain a pound. It might slow you down a tiny bit but as long as you don't use it as an excuse to quit altogether I think you will be fine.0

My opinion is this - its your Birthday!! That only happens once every year! So there are going to be times where you go over your calorie allowance through celebrating, but thats ok!!
One day, One Lunch isnt going to change anything too drastically - its how you behave in the days that lead up and follow that are going to make the difference.
Keep up your exercise - maybe even push a little harder for a few days before and after so you have some 'wiggle' room or money in the bank so to speak - and remember to keep up plenty of water as thats going to help flush out the excess salt, alcohol etc.
But above all enjoy it - I dont believe in making weight loss such an "I miss out on everything" affair, or you will snap one day and stuff your face for a few months.
Its your birthday - enjoy it!!

It all depends on your timeline. When do you want to see results. If you do the cake on Wednesday, the buffet on saturday and then the lunch on Sunday you will just delay the time it takes to reach your goals. I know this sounds harsh but think about "Why" you want to lose the weight and how bad you want it. If you want to reach your goals quickly skip the "Cheat" meals.
This is a tough thing to say on this site because everyone justifies a cheat meal by saying they will make up for it. And the reality is you will eventually... but if you find reasons to eat unhealthy it will continue to push you away from your goals. There is only one road to a healthy life and that means giving up "immediate" desires in order to reach our "ultimate" desire.
In this case an "immediate" desire is cake and an "ultimate" desire is to lose 30lbs. Just think If I said "if you don't eat that cake you will lose 30lbs instantly" Would you eat the cake... NO!! That is what we do every time we give into a "Cheat" meal for a "Special" occasion. We give up on reaching our "Ultimate" desire for an "immediate" one.
I know it sounds rough but you are strong and you can do it. Whatever you decide just know that a healthy life isn't EASY, but it is WORTHWHILE.0 -
Aaaah birthdays are hard, not to mention the pressure your family/friends put on you .. 'it's your birthday'...;just one piece won't matter'...etc etc
Why not get a kick *kitten* work out in every morning before your nights out, indulge but don't go crazy.0
