bump (and PS. I know I need to eat more, I am working on that. Believe me, the 1200 calories I am eating now is MUCH better than the 700-800 I was eating a month ago... i think I was on the verge or anorexia, but an awesome MFP friend helped me see the light and probably saved my life... you know who you are, and thank you. )

You don't eat anything. Why do you think you need to lose weight? If this is an improvement, your body is probably holding onto every calorie it can get.

I am going to suggest eating a healthy balance of food that has more calories in it. Beans, maybe bread and butter, a little cheese . . .
All the things most people cut out. Get yourself up to at least 1200 calories - you're supposed to be eating 1700. Work on that for a month and see what's happening.

I looked at a few days of your diary. You are making very healthy choices, just not enough of them. If what you said is true, that you are just establishing the habit of eating more than one meal a day, then you are doing fabulous. I think you need to give yourself time to get used to the increased amount of food. And then you need to increase it again. Read about nutrition and experiment with the MFP diary.... add some foods just to see what kind of nutrients they have.. You can just delete them afterward. Most days you are not even getting 1200 calories which most of us think is the minimum unless you are under a doctor's care and special diet prescription. So your first goal is to get that number solidly in place. Then move on to meeting the goal set by MFP. Don't be afraid to eat things with healthy fat. They add calories and our bodies need them to function well. Keep moving forward, setting yourself new goals and you'll be ok.

Why is your calorie goal so high? I've never looked at another person's profile so I could just be reading it wrong but it looks like it's saying your goal is ~1700.

You are right, not eating enough does slow weight loss. It's possible that you are not 100% accurate on how much calories you are burning during your workouts too, but eating enough is super important.

Also, it is important to have some protein very soon after a workout. it helps your body recover. And lots of water.
and if you're not getting enough calories & water, you could drink gatorade after working out.
Looks like your sodium is low too so that could help. When my sodium is low I get so, so hungry and sleepy.

if eating is difficult for you maybe you can try to add shakes of some kind? There is one called Spirutein that is non-dairy based. I'm suggesting that b/c I see you drink almond milk. There's tons of protein shakes about. I like these b/c they are non-dairy and they have vitamins. An issue for me is not getting proper vitamins and slow metobolism.

I'm trying to think of more things.
I know that sugar substitutes aren't actully helpful in weight loss, but your one Spelnda packet is probably not going to kill you :)

I guess my suggestion is to find more things to eat more of that are beneficial to you.

Thanks, actually, my calorie goals are 1200, and I am pretty sure that my estimated calorie burn is too much, but I don't eat back exercise calories, so it is not too bad. i am lactose intolerant, yes...
  • What does your "circuit training" consist of? Assuming your food diary is accurate, then you're certainly not eating a lot of calories.

But it's possible that you're over-reporting your exercise each day, skewing your daily needs.

Also, I'd recommend against reporting normal daily activities, including cleaning, stretching, etc.; stick to reporting actual workouts.

I only report "circuit training" when I have a session w/ my personal trainer; I'll spend about an hour sweating my *kitten* off, with my heart near the red zone for about half the exercises she has me go through. Otherwise, my weight lifting sessions just fall under the "general" weight lifting... which looks like less calorie burn than walking.

Here's the thing - if you've stalled out, either you're under-reporting your calorie intake, or you're over-reporting your calorie burn.

Not to say this is insidious or that you're purposely lying - it's just really to miscalculate or misgauge. When I'm in my actual weight loss phases, I try to over-report my food intake and under-report my exercise. Not by a lot; but if I have to estimate, that's the side of caution I prefer to err on.

This is what I do each day. http://www.youtube.com/user/BeFitin90 Not sure what else to log it as, but seeing as I don't eat exercise calories, it didn't seem like a big deal...

Eat more, more veggies, fruits and good protein. I don't think 7 pieces of gum qualifies as a healthy snack. You seem to be ctive o if you tweak your food, you should see a lost. Good luck!

I am addicted to gum! and it is not really a 'snack' I chew them through out the day and just stick it under the snack category

The site is actually set up with the intention of eating back the exercise calories. For example if you wish to lose weight on a 1200 calorie diet but you walked on the treadmill today, that is outside of your normal daily activity.

Say you burned 220 calories on the treadmill. You should try to eat around 1420 today. If you don't net your calorie goal, you are under eating which can hinder weight loss and set you up for problems in the future. This is assuming 1200 is even a good # for you to begin with.

The problem is, I am hardly ever hungry, and after i eat even just a small amount, I feel bloated and gross.

Are you at a healthy weight and only trying to lose a few extra pounds or already close to your goal weight? Those last few pounds can be hard to shift and you might not notice them moving right away. Four weeks isn't that long. Try a new exercise, mix things up, and don't worry too much. Sometimes the body can be stubborn.

Do you have enough fiber in your diet? Do you feel gross after eating certain types of things?

PS if you are that close to your goal weight, you should try to lose no more than 1/2 pound per week. If that sounds bad just think if you had tried that 4 weeks ago, you would already be down 2 pounds.

Would you be willing to reset your goals with 1/2 pound per week and your best guess on activity level (outside of exercise) and see what the site gives you for a daily intake goal?

Are you happy with your protein intake? I kept going back to your diary and thinking that I like your food choices but where's the meat? Some lean protein every meal would take care of your calorie shortage and help you recover from your workouts. If you don't like meat check out Quest bars or something like that.

Don't give in to not eating. Your hormones will drop and make weight loss harder. (And other reasons)

Also, what will your body fat % be at your goal and what is it now? You're probably chasing a few lbs for very little change. Workout and tone up and eat enough good food to keep it up and heal afterwards.
