Any way to lower/get rid of sodium in Canned Beans?

I thought this forum was more relevant than the last one I posted in :
So I am making some Spanish rice and I ran out of pigeon peas. I used a can of pinto beans I accidentally purchased at Walmart. I did not realize how much sodium (they were salted) was in it until I started logging the recipe (Over 1200!). Its too late to start all over so I was wondering if I were to drain the beans and wash them next time, would it help knock off or eliminate the sodium? Or should I just go back to soaking dried beans?

Excess sodium can elevate blood pressure, which in turn can lead to stroke, heart and kidney disease. Reducing salt or sodium intake is one way to lower the risk for these diseases. The American diet is loaded in sodium that comes from processed foods and drinks, and canned vegetables are a big culprit, containing six to eight times the sodium of fresh or frozen vegetables according to the Langdon, North Dakota, Cavalier County Hospital website. It is easy to reduce the amount of sodium in each can.
Step 1
Open the can and with a strainer pour the vegetables into a strainer. The liquid in the can holds the majority of the sodium.
Step 2
Place the strainer under the sink spigot.
Step 3
Rinse the vegetables in running water for at least 30 seconds before heating, cooking or eating. According to the Cavalier County Hospital website, this act of rinsing with running water works to wash off a great portion of the excess sodium.0 -
Get the beans dried and soak and boil them yourself. I don't buy canned beans anymore.0

I haven't bought any canned foods or boxed foods (ie processed) in a few years now. Stay away from them best you can. Eat fresh....this way you control that salt intake along with alot of other things in those canned/boxed foods.0

Fresh Green Beans are so much yummier!
Otherwise buy no salt added cos the regular kind is INSANE.
I rinse canned foods really well. just put them in a strainer and run lots of cold water over them0
