Hi there,

My name is Liesa. I am new to this site and new to exercise and healthy eating.

I went to a spin class today with some workmates and I only made it to 19 mins before I had to run to the loo and vomit. How embarrassing!

I have gone from doing absolutley no exercise to trying to spin with fit people! LOL

Will maybe just go for a brisk walk tomorrow lunchtime...

Break yourself into the exercise (I like calling it activity, doesn't sound so grueling!) at your own pace. I never used to do anything then started with a personal trainer. She can tell what I am capable of and increased it when I was ready. Now I can keep up with or out do kids 20 years younger than me. Walking like you said is a great start. Also try stair climbing to build up the cardio. Just go up and down a few times. Then add going backward or sideways to it. Then skip a step. You can combine all the possible ways, then add carrying some sort of weight to it and gradually increase your cardio as you do more flights at one time. When you make it a longer workout maybe after every couple flights stop and do something at the bottom such as bicep curls or toe touches or anything you can think of to make it a more interesting workout. Time goes by fast. Something simple you can do at your own pace.
  • Welcome....a whole new beginning for you..that is awesome. Definitely start slow...just walking works wonders..and does burn calories as long as you're getting your heartrate up. If exercise is too tramatic, you're doing to much, too quick and will likely not stick with it, because not a good memory !! :) Just do at least 30 minutes of a moderate walk and work your way up to more in time......You will be fine and do Great !!

    Thanks guys!

Today I plan to go for a brisk walk at lunch time. I have borrowed my b/f's heart rate monitor so I can see how many calories I burn. At least I won't need to vomit after walking (one would hope!).

The important thing is to find something you enjoy and that doesn't make you hurt or sick. I started out with Richard Simmons DVDs and walking. Now I'm working my way into some tougher work outs.
