Help! Need advice on HRM, etc...

I am fairly new to all of this and would like to get a heart rate monitor/calorie tracker, etc.. I looked at the fitbit, but after hearing the issues a lot of people were having, I opted for the MIO active connect, which I got today. I have also read about issues with it too. Which is the best tracker at a reasonable price? I have 30 days to return the MIO, and would like everyone's opinions & what issues you have had so I can make the best decision. Thanks!

I have a Pyle HRM34 and it tracks my target heart range, calories burned and length of my workout. I LOVE it!! I got it brand spankin new off of ebay for 30 bucks!! You can find several different brands on there but I chose the pyle based on reviews that I read. There are brands that are a lot fancier than mine.

Polar FT4 or FT7 with a chest strap.
  • I used my MIO this morning along with the runtastic pedometer app. Runtastic said I burned 314 calories in the 30 minutes, but the MIO only said 128. I have read that the sweat on your arm can affect the reading. Which should I use as correct? I am a gadget lover, but want to make sure I make the best decision that will give me the most accurate results.

I use the Polar FT4 and it's awesome. It comes with a chest strap so it's very accurate at measuring your heart rate. I found it to be user-friendly. And you can use it in water, which is cool, cuz although I don't swim I'm usually DRENCHED in sweat after a workout so it's nice not to worry about damaging the device that way.

I have the polar FT7, comes with a chest strap. What i love most about this is the data. At the end of the workout it will also tell you how long you were in the fat burning zone and when your heart rate peaked. Love it...
