SO I started working out at home 15 days ago. I love my workouts
The first week or so I lost 1-2 lbs, then next week again 2lbs.
Then I started using weights. (2lbs dumbbells)
I thought I wouldn't enjoy strength training but I like it so much that I look forward to it even though my body is a bit sore.
Since then I put on 2 lbs back, which I did expect. I took a day's rest and did some stretching and Yoga so as to allow my DOMS to heal and then went back to my normal routine.
It's been two days since the rest i lost 1lb again but my feet and hands are slightly swollen and tight. Is this normal. Should I rest another day and do the stretches or should I just keep going.
Have any of you had similar swelling after vigorous workouts. If it is normal then what is the right thing to do - - -do you guys rest or do you keep going.
Please lemme know your thoughts on this . . Thanks in advance :flowerforyou:

No worries this is normal.
Don't worry about the weight gain, it is most likely fluid retention as a result of normal swelling. There is a difference between being sore and injured. When I'm sore I work through it, perhaps reduce the weight. I'd keep going, as your body adapts you'll be less sore.0 -

okie dokie :flowerforyou:0 -
Stretching and light exercise actually makes sore muscles feel better. If you're barely able to move then take a day off but if you're just sore as in "Yep, I worked those muscles" then you can hit them again. If you're concerned about it you can back off on intensity and weight a bit to give them a rest.
Delayed onset muscle soreness gets to be less and less of an issue the more you workout. Eventually you'll barely be sore at all and you'll probably even miss the soreness. Just wait, you'll see.0 -
Also I noticed I felt like the rusted TIN MAN from wizard of Oz when I woke up in the morning . . . but it's gotten better except the swelling in my hands and feet0

Oh now that would be sooooo awesome !!!0 -
You need to focus less on minor weight fluctuations and more on total body composition. Keep it going, it will get better. Keep pressing play0

Too true! For the first week I did Rushfit, I could barely walk, and I basically had to fall into my chair at work since I couldn't bend that way. Now, I feel great, with very little soreness--and I almost miss it, since I took it as a sign that I was really pushing myself.0 -
tnx guys for the motivation :flowerforyou:
Today the swelling's gone down, just a bit sore on the shoulders but not bad at all!
I also drank more water than usual and have decided to limit my salt intake
Hoping that helps with the water retention
@michellelash - yes I agree, My body feels fitter and more full of energy since I started working out.0 -

The scale is a useful tool for healthy living, but it's not *the* tool for healthy living. It's not at all uncommon for people to put on weight and look much better, when the weight they put on is from mainly muscle. You almost certainly haven't put on any muscle weight yet, but you are probably just retaining some water while your body tries to recover from your workout. No worries, it's normal.0
