Hi. I was wondering if there is anybody else here whose child is autistic? Sometimes it makes things difficult, for lack of a better way if saying it. My precious little man is five years old and has autism. What are some ways you cope with day to day struggles your child and yourself encounter ? It is not easy. It can make you think you'll loose your mind and can make you want to pull your hair out. :frown: I love my son with all my but I find some days more difficult to deal with the affects autism has on our family more than others

Hello. I have three children. Two boys and a girl. My daughter (age 13) is autistic. She was diagnosed at age 3 as non-verbal; severe. It is tough. My wife and I have found it easier as the years have gone by. In fact, we even took her out of the "autism program" at the school here in El Paso and started home schooling her six years ago. It was then that we learned the most about her autism (I say that because every autistic child is not the same) and started teaching her the way she can learn. Hang in there. It is a long road, but a worthy journey. I feel abundantly blessed to have learned more from my daughter than I could ever claim I'll teach her. If you need support, feel free to add me. (Sorry for typos - I am exhausted).0

My son was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome in the late summer at 15yrs old. The funny thing is He doesnt show the symptoms, is just a bit shy. He plays football and basket in High School and is a straight A student. I honestly believe He is mis diagnosed. A lot of stuff happened over the last 2yrs with His mother and I divorcing. Growing up I never had a challenge with him at all.0

I have four nephews who are diagnosed with various autism spectrum disorders. The are all completely different with various levels of functionality. Having a child with autism is really challenging. My littlest has Down syndrome and I think it much easier to deal with.0

I was wondering how many other mums and dads on here had children with ASD. My son has just turned 7 and was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3. He's high functioning (he can communicate - albeit unusually and he goes to a mainstream school but has two teacher aides looking after him full plus a team of other specialists - 2x OTs, a tutor, SLT, Behaviour Therapist etc...) and I think he's delightful (well, in between the meltdowns and screaming hehe!)
Feel free to add me as a friend )0 -
