Long distance runners.....?

After running my long runs, I always seem to be more angry toward my family.
I am good with my short runs, very happy and easy going for the most part. It is just usually when I run 10+ miles.
Does anyone else experience this?

Yep definitely! I used to find that when I was training for the marathon. I think it's called overtraining :-(. Your body will get used to it but make sure you eat healthily - good carbs before your run and lean protein for recovery xxx0

Maybe you're "hangry" - hungry and angry - and need to fuel smarter before, during and after.0

You know that may be the case. I normally don't carb load before my runs, I just eat normal(Lean meat and 2 veggies). I will try eating some pasta the night before and see how my mood changes.
I can't eat before I run. My stomach can't handle it. And usually I don't eat for 2-3 hours after my runs because I just don't want anything. If the pasta the night before doesn't work, I will try eating soon after I finish my run.

Have you tried energy gels and drinks before and during, and recovery drinks afterwards, if you can't handle solids?0

I tried the GU one time, when I ran the Rock and Roll half marathon last November(running it this Saturday). But, I really didn't recognize the difference, I wasn't around my family afterwards either, so I really don't know.0 -
Have you tried drinking back some calories after a long run? That might help with your mood. A protein shake or 100% juice?0

No, I haven't tried that. That may be a good option for me. I love good cold apple juice. That also will be on my list of things to try until I find what works.0
